Jets take, over second spot
Win decisively over Durham
Jack Nairn fired the winning
marker at 7.57 of the third period
on a play with Terry Bourne and
Jim Pinnegar,
The other Jet goals were fired
by Terry Bourne and Jacques
Cousineau. Jerry Leschyshyn
and Bob McNear were the Both-
well goal getters.
Lorne Daer was in goal for the
Jets in both games and turned in
excellent efforts.

The Lucan-Ilderton Jets came
up with two wins this week and
have taken over undisputed
possession of second place in the
Ontario Hockey Association
Senior "B" league.
The Jets edged the Bothwell
Barons 3-2 in Bothwell Wed-
nesday night and Friday night at
the Ilderton arena they came
through with a convincing 9-3 win
over their arch rivals, the
Durham Huskies,
The Lucan-Ilderton club now
boasts 10 wins and four losses
good for 20 points and second
place behind the front running
Stratford Perths who have 26
points but have played three
games more than the Jets.
The burham club is third with
18 points while the Bothwell
Barons and London Kings share
fourth spot with 14 points apiece.
Bringing up the rear with eight
points apiece are Preston and
Woodstock,
The Jets meet the Preston
Jesters in double weekend
games. The two clubs play at the
Ilderton arena Friday night at
8.30 and swing back to the
Preston arena the next night for
an 8.15 contest.
The final game of the year for
the Jets will be Friday,
December 29 when the Wood-
stock Royals invade the Ilderton
arena.
In another game locally this
week, the London Kings were
swamped 16-8 by the league
leading Stratford Perths. The
game was played at the Huron
Park arena the new home of the
Kings.
The London club will be at
home Saturday night of this week
to the Durham Huskies, Game
time will be 7.30 p.m.
Lots of goals mixed with plenty
of penalties featured Friday
night's game in which the Jets
downed the Huskies by a 9-3
count.
It took the Jets only 24 seconds
to show their fans they were out
to win, Bill Bourne completed a
three-way passing combination
with Jack Nairn and Doug
Galloway to start the home club
off on the right foot.
At 6.28 Joe McCrae of the
Huskies tied the scorebut before
the period was over, the Lucan-
Ilderton club had moved into a 3-1
lead.
Defenceman Jim Pinnegar
fired the go-ahead goal with
assists going to Jack Nairn and
Dave Revington at 16.45 and with
less than a minute and a half to go
a gets pbwerplay was successful.
Dick Doughty fired the shot with
passing help from Jamie Robb
and Bill Dunnell,
In the second period the Jets
outscored the Huskies 3-2 to take
a commanding three goal lead.
At the halfway mark, Steve
Proctor tipped in a shot from Bill
Fairbairn.
McCrae came back with his
second goal of the night at 12.36
and shortly after Dale Rahn
scored for the Huskies. In quick
succession in the latter minutes,
two Exeter members of the Jets
found the scoring range.
Bill Fairbairn notched the first
finishing off a play started by
Steve Proctor and. Jamie Robb
and Barry Baynham was on the
firing end of a play originated by
Bill Bourne and Jack Nairn.
In the third period, two Jets
defencemen got into the scoring
act. Barry Baynham scored his
second of the night on a slap shot
from the point and Jim Pinnegar
registered with help from his
blue-line partner Bill Dona.
Jack Nairn notched the other L-
Activities of Exeter's minor
hockey clubs were curtailed
somewhat by the weatherman
this week.
The only games played were a
.pee wee game at home Wed-
nesday night against Ilderton and
a novice game Sunday night with
Lucan supplying the opposition.
Dart lead
shortened
The lead of the Sharpshooters
at the top of the standings in the
Exeter Legion mixed dart league
has again been cut „to a single.
point.
The Sharpshooters hay-6 45
points, one more than the second
place Canners. The Dart Sharks
are third with 38 points and the
Doublers fourth with 36 points.
After regular dart action
Friday night, a social evening
was held. Music was supplied by
regular dart league members
Eric Heywood, Jake Lindenfield,
Larry Estey, Hank Dyck; Jim
Young and Howard Turner of
Goderich.
The highlight of the evening•
was Keith Brintnell and his
dancing man.Many tried to make
him dance to the toe tapping
music but none were as suc-
cessful as the master Keith.
Winners of a turkey draw were
Cliff Brintnell, Marg Wragg and
Gerald Lawson,

Jets were assessed 18 while the
Huskies took 13 calls. Included
were game miseonducts to Paul
Young, Walt Parkinson and
Barry Baynham of the Jets and
Glenn Reid and Chuck Niesen of
the visitors.
Nairn gets winner
In Wednesday's close 3-2 win
over Bothwell, Jets playing coach
The pee wees scored an 8-2 win
over Ilderton while the Exeter
Broncos won the novice contest
by a score of 8-1.
Captain Jeff Marshall put the
Ilderton club out in front in the
early minutes of the game before
the Exeter club started to roll.
Midway through the opening
session, David Bogart scored the
first of two goals on passes from
Brad Taylor and Randy Parsons.
Two more Exeter counters
came in the first period and both
were three-way passing com-
binations. Parsons notched one
from Taylor and Bogart and Brad
Taylor scored from Bogart and
Darrel Preszcator.
The pee wees notched the only
two goals of the second period.
,Begart fired his second with;
assists going to Randy Parsons
and Darrel Preszcator while
Dennis Preszcator was on the
firing end of a successful shot.
Preston Dearing and Brad Taylor
assisted.
Scoring in the third period was
confined to the last four minutes
of action. Marshall fired another
shot for Ilderton, again
unassisted with only four minutes
remaining.
In a space of less than two
minutes Exeter counted three
times. Derek Regier put the puck
into the Ilderton net on a play
stated by Brad Taylor and
Randy Fisher, Ron Bilcke
registered on passes from Steve
Skinner and Dennis Preszcator
and Randy Fisher was successful
with assists going to Taylor and
Bogart.
Peter Tuckey and Wayne
Parsons led the Broncos win over
Lucan with two goal per-
formances while single goals
were notched by Mark Parsons,

The lone Lucan goal came from
the stick of Paul Gilmour,
Lieury took over first place in
the Ausable Valley Rec hockey
league Sunday night with a 4-0
win over Ailsa Craig. Lieury now
has 12 points with Ailsa Craig
second with 10 points.
In Sunday's other contest,
Brinsley • edged the Shipka
Bulldogs 7-5 to put the two clubs
on even terms in the league
basement with three points
apiece. -
Wayne Ropp led the Lieury
scoring with a two goal effort
while single goals were notched
by Ernie Schlegel and Paul
Hodgins.
The Brinsley marksmanship
was led by George Tryon with a
hat trick performance. Bob
Hodgins was next in line with two
goals. Scoring one goal each were
Jack Conlin and Jim Latta.
Rene Boogemans with two
successful shots was best for
Shipka.Goals from the stocks of
Shane Burley, Bob Chapdelaine
and Larry Mason completed the
Shipka scoring.
