Mrs. Lorne Hicks showed coloured slides and gave an in- teresting commentary of her tour of Thailand, India, Australia and New Zealand, The devotions closed with a hymn. • Mrs, Bob Blair presided over the business and opened with a poem "Thanksgiving". HAROLD MITCHELL Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins has the sympathy of many friends in the loss of her brother, Harold Mitchell, who passed away suddenly at his home in West Lorne October 13, 1972. The deceased, a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Norman Mitchell, was well-known throughout the area. He is survived by his wife MargaretRu (Peg) McClelland, sonNtohrman, Port Stanley, daughters Mrs. S. G. (Marietta) Colder, Topeka, Kansas and Linda, London. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, sisters Mrs. Kenneth (Florence) Hodgins, Centralia, and Ada Mitchell, Montpelier, Ohio, Funeral service was held at Padfields, West Lorne October 16th with the Rev, James Van- slyke of West Lorne United Church officiating. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Ken Greb attended the wedding of Mr, & Mrs, Ora Miller in Middlebury, Indiana and went on to Iowa to visit Florida neighbours. From there they travelled south to Hannibal, Missouri to see Mark Twain's birthplace; then further south through the Ozark Mountains, returning home by Lorain, Ohio where they visited over the weekend with Mr. Greb's cousin, Mrs Helen Joyce. Mr. & Mrs. A. Copland, Wind- sor and Wilda Pollock, Kitchener were weekend guests with Mrs. Lorne Hicks. Mr. & Mrs. Fred Bowden at- tended the anniversary service in the Lieury United Church Sunday. and spent the day 'With their daughter and son-in-law. Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Allison and family. Meeting The Literature and Com- munications group was in charge of the October meeting of Calvary United Church Women with Mrs. Don Gaiser, chairlady. Mrs, Mervyn Tiernan was pianist. Mrs. Leroy Gowanlock read the scripture and Mrs. Gowanloch and Mrs. Syd Neeb favoured with a duet. Mrs. Syd Neeb gave a reading on Thanksgiving. President, Mrs. Gordon Bender, dealt with the business. Twenty members and two visitors were present, The ladies are invited to the South Huron Fall Day Regional October 24 at Zurich. The Sunshine committee is Mrs. Lloyd Guenther and Mrs. Jack Gather. Ladies Aid The Ladies Aid of Zion Lutheran church held their an- nual fowl supper Wednesday, October U with group 1 and Mrs. Lorne Genttner, convener, in charge. About 50 were present for festive supper. During supper Carol Rader entertained with the accordion and Jayne Hayter with piano selections. A brief business session was held following supper with the president, Mrs. Jim Hayter in charge. The Altar Guild reported 19 calls.The new Guild is Mrs. Arnold Becker and Mrs. Oscar Miller. Several donations were acknowledged. A donation of ten dollars was made to the CRIB. Bunco was played with winners Mrs. Charles Martene and Charles Martene; low, Mrs. Ernest Koehler and Albert Miller. Personals Mrs. John Rader is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London, where she underwent eye surgery. Mrs. Adolph Keller is a patient in South Huron hospital, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Maine, Kitchener, spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Reinhold Miller. Recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Oluf Pedersen were :Sgt. Si Mrs. Lode Pedersen and George, Petawawa; Mr, & Mrs, Joe Manuel and sons, London; Karen Durdin, Winnipeg; Mr, .& Mrs. Doug Kirk and Mr. & Mrs. Ken Dowson, Winnipeg, Mrs. Karen Nolan spent ten days with her parents before returning to her home in Van Nuys, California. Mrs, Laura Datars, Mr. & Mrs. Ross Love, and Mr. & Mrs. Howard Deters attended the Pullens-Datars wedding at St. Marys church Grand Bend, Saturday, and the reception at Green Forest Motor Hotel.
