For Thanksgiving, Sunday, the
church was decorated with

The worship service at Lucan
united Church was taken by Rev.
W. C. Tupling. The sermon was
taken from "The Call to Thank-
fulness'
Are we thankful for the basic
necessities of life, as the Lord?
asked Rey Tupling.The call is to
hankfulness, which is its own
reward, Without it, we can never
be happy; with it, we can never
be overcome by adversity, he
concluded.
Saturday there will be a bake
sale in AlcLean's garage spon-
sored by the Couples Club of this
church.

The Lucan, Clandeboye ex-
plorers met October 2 in the
United Church, playing games,
and singing songs, Books and
pictures on UNICEF, the United
Nations international Children's
Emergency Fund were
displayed.
Girls were asked to obtain this
type of book from the library,
read, show, and tell a fact from
them.
Blue and Gold Star girls are to
leaves, corn stalks, and
vegetables. The morning service
was in charge of Rev. Elvin
Thornton. Evert Gagnon, St,
Catharines, led the singing.
Mr. Gagnon, and Mr. $- Mrs.
Thornton sang a trio, with Mrs.
Thornton playing her accordion,
and Mr. Gagnon the cornet. Mr.
Thornton's theme was on being
thankful for the blessing God has
given us.
At the evening service, Mr.
Gagnon again led the singing,
The trio sang again, and Marlene
Butler sang the Thanksgiving
Hymn, with Mrs. Thornton at the
piano. One of the Toronto
visitors, Mrs. Joyce Raymer also
sang.
Mr. Thornton's message was
on the purpose of tongues being to
warn the unbeliever of coming
judgement.

The ladies of the C.W.L. St.
Patrick's attended mass, before
their monthly meeting,
celebrated by Father McGraw.
The meeting was spent planning
the upcoming bazaar, which is to
be held in the Lucan arena hall

Guest who joined with the
ladies of Cromarty Church
Women's Missionary Society for
the Thanksgiving meeting were
from First Presbyterian church,
Seaforth, Carmel Presbysterian
church. Hensall, Caven
Presbyterian church, Exeter,
and the Marian Ritchie Auxiliary
of Cromarty church. The guests
were welcomed by Mrs. Calder
McKaig and Mrs. M. Dow.
Mrs. Mervin Dow presided
using the Thank-offering service
in the Glad Tidings and Mrs.
Charles Douglas acted as
secretary in the absence of Mrs.
T. L. Scott. All the ladies an-
swered the Roll Call by an-
swering "Why I am Thankful."
Musical numbers and a reading
were provided by the visitors and
were much enjoyed.
Miss Olive Speare gave a
Thanksgiving topic. A film strip
"Drumbeat to Dialogue" was
shown. The meeting closed with a

Mr. & Mrs, Wilson Morley
spent last week touring the
regions of Muskoka, Haliburton
and Manitoulin. They report the
autumn colors in all the areas a
magnificent sight. They returned
home by Bruce county and
visited the former's sister and
brother-in-law at Sauble Beach,
Mr. and ,Mrs. Ewart Pym and
other relatives.
Visitors with the Motleys for
Thanksgiving Sunday were Mrs.
Maida Bowman, Elmira, Jessie
Finlayson, Toronto and Ola
Mnrley of London.
Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Brintnell
celebrated their 45th wedding
anniversary October 5. They
were entertained by the family at.

taxes have gone up considerably
in areas where regional govern-
ment is in effect but she added, "I
think the services are much
better. We have better ad-
ministrators."
Ailsa Craig Reeve Jack
Whitmore suggested a meeting
be held in the area with speakers
from present regional govern-
ment areas. "Let them tell us
how good it really is," added
Whitmore.
Many other members of the
audience took part in the
discussion, some briefly.
Hugh Berry, an ex-reeve of
West Williams said regional
government to a degree is
feasible if it is kept to smaller
areas.
Clinton Gilbert of the same
municipality cited one farm in
the Toronto area where taxes had
