The Exeter recreation committee hopes to increase its activities during
the coming fall and winter months and asks residents of the area to
indicate what activities they would like to participate in.
To make this questionnaire effective, you are urged to list only
those activities in which you have a sincere interest. If enough interest
is shown in any of the following, organizational meetings will be called
and you will be notified, in person or through subsequent
advertisements.

French guipure lace on the
bodice and sleeves. Her chapel
length silk illusion veil was
similarly outlined with guipure
lace, styled with a floral cluster
head-piece.
The maid of honor was Suzanne
Dietrich, sister of the bride, with
bridesmaid Donna Dietrich and
flower girl Betty Jane Foran,
They were dressed alike in
floor length gowns of screen
printed acrylic crepe in floral
design with pink background,
empire waists and pink velvet
sash,
Frank Foran, brother of the
groom was the best man with
Terry Foran as usher and Lenny
Dietrick as ring bearer.
Following a reception at Dash-
wood Community Centre, the
couple left for a wedding trip to
Northern Ontario. The bride's
travelling outfit was a red
jumper and white blouse with
navy accessories,
The bride is the daughter of Mr,
and Mrs. Leonard Dietrich, RR 3,
Dashwood and the groom is the
son of Mr: and Mrs, John Foran,
RR 2, Auburn.
The couple will reside in
Mrs. Verda Taylor visited in
Sarnia and Detroit over the
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Strang
celebrated their 35th wedding
anniversary on Sunday. They
were guests of their family for
dinner at the Old Mill
Restaurant, Pajkhill and af-
terwards at their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Squire
were entertained Sunday by their
family, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
Squire, Whalen, Mrs. Gladys
Chittick and Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Lamond, London, to a
dinner at Dashwood on the oc-
casion of their 55th wedding
anniversary. Later the family
spent the evening at their
parents' home, Main St.
Mrs. Roylance Westcott, Mrs.
Harry Dougall, Mrs. Hugh Love
and Mrs. Garnet Hicks of
Centralia. Both are employed at
Dashwood Industries.
Hurondale WI
plans bus trip
The September meeting of
Hurondale Institute was taken by
the family and consumer affairs
committee, with Mrs. John Pym
in the chair. She read an autumn
poem and a film was shown by
Mr. K. Bridges on the crippled
children's treatment centre in
London.
Roll call, "What health habit
would you emphasize to your
child" was answered by the
members.
The motto, "When you feel like
complaining take a good look at
your blessings", was read by
Mrs. Lee Webber,
A reading entitled "Old Moses
Counting Eggs" was read by
Mrs. Mac Hodgert.
The president, Mrs. Garnet
Hicks, presided for the business,
Arrangements were made for
members to attend the Fall Rally
in Auburn.
The historical meeting is to be
held in Usborne school October
18, The Institute is sponsoring
seven 4-H clubs this year.
Mrs. R. E. Pooley gave the
hospital report and the
emergency report was given by
Mrs. Edna Passmore. A bus trip
to Kitchener is planned for
November, The meeting closed
with the Lord's Prayer and lunch
was served by committee in
charge.
Institute holds
county rally
Mrs. Harold Gaunt, president
of West Huron WI welcomed
between 150 and 200 guests to the
21st annual .Huron County
Women's Insititue Rally held in
Auburn United Church.
Pat Shanahan and Bill Hanley
from the Children's Aid Society
attended and answered many
questions about the Institute
bursary which is given annually.
A motion was made to the ef-
fect that the president of each
district (west, east and south) be
a committee to meet with the
CAS to plan the spending of the
bursary. The bursary fund at the
present time is over $1,700. It is
collected each year at 50 cents a
member.
Mrs. Amber Popp reported for
the Huron Historical society,
stating there are 170 members.
Miss Catherine Hunt, Home
Economist, reported on her
work. Huron has the highest
number of girls working in 4-H.
Miss Hunt also presented the
scholarship, a cheque for $100
and a certificate to Miss Jayne
Snell, RR 1, Londesboro.
Guest speaker was Mrs.
Clarence Diamond, New Ham-
burg, past PRO of the Federated
Women's Institutes of Ontario.
She described her trip to Oslo,
Norway as a voting delegate
from Ontario to the Triennial
Conference of the ACWW.
Mrs. Ross Eedy, Dungannon,
entertained the ladies with cake
decorating. Also entertaining
was Mrs. Celia Aitchison, West
Huron, with a humorous reading.
Mrs. Gilbert Johns and Mrs.
Elson Lynn, Elimville WI were
appointed auditors.
The 1973 Rally will be held in
South Huron.
Hurondale WI attended the
Huron County Rally in Auburn.

the holiday season are milk and
cream, When you plan your
holiday soirees don't forget to
shop the dairy case. You can add
that little measure of extra
luxury that sets fall and winter
entertaining apart from any
other time of the year and makes
the host the toast of the party,
Holiday eggnog
(Makes 12 Servings)
6 eggs, separated
It teaspoon salt
2'3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons rum flavoring+
1 pint (2 1 2 cups) light cream
2 cups milk or 1 cup milk plus
cup light rum
1 2 pint (1 1 4
cream
nutmeg
— Beat egg whites and salt until
frothy throughout, gradually beat
in 1.i3 cup of the sugar and con-
tinue beating until stiff peaks
form. Beat egg yolks until light.
Gradually add remaining sugar
beating until thick and lemon
colored, Add rum flavoring. Very
slowly add cream and milk rum,
beating constantly. Whip cream
until softly stiff. Gently fold
whipped cream and meringue
into egg-cream mixture. Chill
thoroughly. Serve sprinkled with
nutmeg.
Irish coffee
(Makes 6 Servings)
1 2 pint (1 1 4 cups) whipping,
cream
6 tablespoons fruit sugar
1 4 Cu!) Irish whiskey
33 4 cups hot black coffee
Whip cream until softly stiff;

set aside. Place 1 tablespoon
sugar and 2 tablespoons whiskey
into each of six 8-ounce stemmed
glasses. Pour coffee over a metal
spoon to absorb heat and fill each
glass 34 full. Stir to dissolve
sugar, Float generous
tablespoons of whipped cream on
top of each glass.
The Women's Missionary
Counsel of the Exeter Pen-
tecostal Church took the form of a
mother and daughter banquet,
Thursday evening.
Mrs. Keith McLaren presided
over the service which was held
directly after the supper.
Mrs, H. Kendrick opened in
prayer and Michele and Anne
Triebner rendered a duet, They
were accompanied by their
mother, Mrs. Grant Triebner on
the piano who also played for the
rest of the service. There were
also two quartet numbers by
Janet and Chris Cowan, Beverley
and Vaila Tait who also ac-
companied them on the piano,
Speaker of the evening was
Town Topics
Mr. and Mrs. Gifford Hogarth,
Ocala, Florida, visited recently
with his brother, Victor Hogarth
and family and with his sister,
Mrs. Russell Balkwill and family.
Mrs. Ken Rennick, from Monk-
ton. Her topic, was "Ruth's
obedience in following Naomi's
God."
There were 80 present at the
supper.
Exeter UCW
On October 2, Unit 3 of the
Exeter United Churn Women
held their Thanksgiving meeting
in the primary Sunday school
room, A gentleman affiliated
with the Salvation Army
requested help from the ladies
with a town-wide canvass coming
up October 23.
Mrs. Ada Dinney, unit leader,
conducted the business meeting
and the devotional was conducted
by Mrs. Verla Russell, Mrs.
Marion Dougall and Mrs. Alice
MacLean.
Guest speaker, Mrs. Alvin Pym
took the ladies on an enjoyable
trip to Russia by the use of slides.
Mrs. Helen Coates and group
served a delicious lunch.
MARRIED RECENTLY — Donna Helen King, daughter of Major
and Mrs. Richard A. King, Grimsby, and Gary Douglas Wedlake,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas W. Wedlake, Exeter, were recently
married by the Rev. R. W. McLauchlin, at Trinity United Church,
Grimsby. Both are graduates of the University of Waterloo. After a
honeymoon in Northern Ontario the couple will reside in Montreal,
where the bride is employed by a Social Service agency and the
groom is working towards a doctoral degree in Chemical
Engineering.
