KEN McKELLAR CROMARTY The president Mrs. James Miller, was hostess for the September meeting of Cromarty Ladies' Aid. The meeting opened with a reading and a hymn. Mrs. Eldon Allen read the scripture and led in prayer, The toll call was answered by displaying the oldest coin in your possession, Mrs, Charles Douglas gave a reading, "Krissmus Diary". During the business 0. thank you note from the linitarian Services Committee was read by the secretary, Mrs. John Templeman. Mrs. Eldon Allen gave the treasurer's report. Coffee and doughnuts were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Gerald Carey. "4 Women's Missionary SoCiety Mrs. Mervin Dow was hostess for the September meeting of the Women's Missionary Society. Mrs. Calder McKaig presided and opened the meeting with a reading. Scripture was read in linison and prayer by Mrs. 1VIcKaig. Mrs. Dow gave a cassette presentation on Africa, followed by an interesting discussion. Eleven members answered the roll call by mentioning a language into which the Bible is 4translated. Reports were given by the secretary, treasurer and Guest speaker i.to be astronaut The Women's Canadian Club, London will begin its season of programs next Monday at Centennial Hall. The guest speaker for the first meeting will be astronaut, Captain James A. ovelL Captain Lovell was the pilot of the command module on the Apollo 8 space craft, and was the commander of Apollo 13, He will show a film of the epic Apollo 13 flight, and a reception for all members will follow. Throughout the year, the club ties planned many interesting speakers, including John Stuart Anderson, with a theatrical performance combining the spoken word, mime, costume and music; and Stuart Trueman, Canadian humorist, historian, journalist and author. Tours on the agenda include a trip to the Royal Ontario Museum and visit to the Shaw Festival at Niagara-On-The-Lake next June, Several ladies from this area are members of the club, and season tickets may be purchased *for $5 at Centeniall Hall the day of the meeting. Mr. & Mrs. Hubert besjardine, Kincardine spent week-end with Mrs. Catherine Morrissey. Mrs, Roherty, Hamilton is visiting with her daughters and ilamilies; Mr, & Mrs. Pat Glavin and Mr. & Mrs, Leo Boyle, Margaret Anne Hogan, a graduate from Stratford General Hospital in July, has accepted a position at South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs, Larry Wismer, Stratford spent weekend with the latter's' parents, Mr, & Mrs, John A. Glavin and family, Several ladies front Our Lady of Mt, Carmel Parish attended the Deanery meeting on Wed- nesday at Goderich. Mrs, Catherine Morrissey is a patient in Victoria Hospital where she is having surgery on her eye for a cataract. Everyone wishes her a very speedy recovery. Harry Van Osch is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital. His friends dope to see him home soon. president. Arrangements were made for the October meeting when several neighboring auxiliaries will be invited guests. Mrs. McKaig reported 14 cards and 15 visits to the sick. "Prayers are asked" was read by Mrs. Sam McCurdy. Mrs. T. L. Scott favored with a solo "Amazing Grace". Mrs. Malcolm Lamond gave a topic on the Bible Society. Mrs. T. L. Scott and Mrs. J. R. Jefferson assisted the hostess in serving a tasty lunch. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Calder McKaig visited recently with relatives at Fergus. Mr. & Mrs. E, Barningham from Toronto have taken up residence in the home in the village formerly occupied by Mrs. Thos. Scott. By MRS. HUGH MORENZ SHIPKA Friends, neighbours and relatives met at Shipka Com- munity Centre Saturday evening to honor newlyweds, Mr. & Mrs. Tom Russell, and Mr. & Mrs. Terry Pickering. The social part of the evening was spent playing progressive euchre. Winners were: ladies' high, Mrs. Lorne Dietrich; ladies' low, Mrs. Ervin Ratz; mens' high, Cliff Russell; mens' low, Gordon Ratz. Karl Guenther and Russel Mellin presented the young couples with lamps. JerryArnold read an address. Both young men thanked everyone. Heather Daynard has flown to British Columbia where she is continuing her studies this year, Rae Hutson is attending the University of Western Ontario this year, Judy Jeffery is attending the University of Guelph this year, Lauraine and Margaret ',Magi Nancy Allen and ti.uth and Mizabeth Templeman, attended the young peoples camp at Xintail on the weekend. Kenneth Walker has returned home from a three month trip touring the British Isles and Europe. Sunday visitors with Mrs. J. R. Jefferson were Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Laidlaw, John and Tena, London. Pupils of the Sunday School occupied the front pews of Cromarty Presbyterian church for Rally Day service. Rev. Wilfred Jarvis was in charge and based his sermon on the need of love and forgiveness in the world, rather than rivalry and revenge. The Junior Choir, under the direction of Barry Hodge led the singing. Mrs. T. L. Scott, superintendant of the Sunday School, gave diplomas for regular attendance and seals to the pupils. Snyder entertained 15 young people Friday night to a hay ride and weiner roast at their farm home. Included were neigh- bourhood young people and friends from the Church of God. Mr. & Mrs. Les Adams visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. John Corbett and Al near Hensall, Mr. & Mrs. Earl Smith, Brian, Bruce and Carol, Ottawa spent the weekend with Mrs. Smith's mother and brother Mrs. Roy Ratz and Donald, Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Ratz and family attended a family reunion in Toronto Sunday at the home of Gordon's sister, Mr. & Mrs. Ray Collett and family. Speaker relates trip experiences The fall meeting of the Presbyterian church women was held September 11 in Caven Sunday School room. The ladies of the Gordon Auxiliary attended and conducted the worship period. Plans were made in preparation for catering to two masonic banquets, one in Sep- tember and one in October. The group received an in- vitation to attend the Cromarty WMS October 5, and an executive meeting will be held in Stratford, October 10. The fall WMS Rally will be held at Avonton, October 12, with morning and afternoon sessions. Mrs. Slier), introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. M.
