The Exeter pool staff would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported our swimming programme this summer. We would like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Dietrich who drove the Huron Hope children to the pool so faithfully each week. We were very pleased with the number of children passing examinations this year and hope enthusiasm remains as high next year. Tigers — Continued from Page 6 In the same inning, the Tigers threatened again but failed to add to their run total. Jim Guenther walked and moved up on a two- bagger from the bat of Dave Ratz but the next two batters were retired by Brigden relief hurler Mundy who took over from starter Murray Wooley. Brigden's third and final run of the game came in the fifth when Ratz was touched for two of the hits given up all night. The final Dashwood spurt came in the bottom of the sixth producing another four runs. With one out, Jim Guenther who was safe on a fielder's choice scored on the second double of the game from Dave Ratz, Bud Desjardine was safe on an error allowing Ratz to score. Gary Hartman followed with a single and scored along with Desjardine on Bob Hoffman's single. In addition to his fine pitching performance, Ratz led the Tiger hitters at the plate with two doubles and the same number of singles in five trips to the plate. The final Red Cross swimming tests of the year were held at the Exeter swimming pool Friday with a large number of local candidates being successful. The most honest golfer was Tom Dalrymple. * Wild and Wilder The Friday night game in Dashwood which the Tigers took 19 -11 was a pitcher's nightmare as bases on balls were a dime a dozen, Brigden took advantage of wildness by Tiger hurlers to score all their runs in two in- nings. Dashwood opened up with a seven run barrage in the first inning and it looked like the ball game. Brigden bounced right back with five scores in the second and it was a different story. The Tigers kept pecking away and scored eight runs in the next five innings to move ahead 15 - 5. Brigden's six run rally in the seventh brought the score a little closer but Dashwood's four run outburst in the eighth decided the issue, Pete Ravelle provided the long ball for the Tigers 'with home runs in the first and second in- nings and he came close to a third with a long foul in the fourth before grounding out. Ravelle's first round-tripper came with the bases loaded-in the opening inning. He added a pair of singles later in the game to complete a four-for-five night at the bat. John Hayter was close behind with a triple, double and single to his credit while Gary Hartman collected two doubles and a single. Jim Guenther and Dave Rats also hit bases empty home runs. Guenther Started on the mound for the Tigers. Ile gave way to Brian Bestard in the big Brigden second inning, Bestard went well until the 114.,„t outburst in the seventh. Bill Schade came bit to finish up. 4 I & S a ve NOW The STAR-LITE OPEN! 1 'ORANGE a NITE . ho ..mmimm.m.m.mm.m.mimm,mmimm ,mm.mimm.mm . „,„.......,...„.....„,„„,„,„„„„,„„...„,„,„.„„„„.,.,............ 355 Litopppiag-- 1144:.e.koey FURNITURE LIMITED Cpt EXETER, ONT, PHONE 23$-1990 CONTEST SPECIAL!
