Mrs. Gladys Huber and Mrs. Vera Roberts, of London are vacationing this week in Grand Bend, Mrs, Hazel Mitchell, of London is convalescing at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm, Brenner after a stay in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Captain Ian Carmichael of the Salvation Army, London, will be guest speaker Sunday at the Open Air Service on the United Church lawn. Mrs. Laird of Thedford will be guest soloist. Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Ball and family, of Pontiac, Michigan, are vacationing this week in Grand Bend. Debbie Hamilton, of Ottawa, is spending a couple of weeks with her grandparents, Mr, & Mrs. Alex Hamilton. Last weekend Debbie visited her uncle and aunt, Mr. & Mrs. Brad Hamilton in Owen Sound. Mr, & Mrs. Robert Keyes are home, having enjoyed a holiday touring the eastern provinces. Mrs. Kathleen Houlahan received word last week of the sudden death of her son-in-law, Steve Mitro, who was killed in a car accident near Leamington on his way home from work, Steve is survived by his wife Rita and five children. Interment took place last Monday in Leamington. Mitro was a well-known baseball player in this area in the mid -50's. He was a topnotch pitcher, playing two years for Exeter and one for Dashwood. At the time of his death, he was a high school teacher in Leamington. Rev. E. Thornton &Mr.& Mrs, John Armitage were in charge of the work, Sunday, both services were under the charge of Rev. F. Thornton. Robert Holland led the singing for the morning service and Mr. & Mrs. Thornton sang a duet. Mr. Thornton's message was on the theme walking with God, from the story of Enoch, John Armitage led the singing for the evening service. Mr. Thornton's message on the theme of listening to God and his word. Anglican Church Last Sunday Rev. R.A. Carson preached to the joint congregations of Holy Trinity, and Lucan United Church on the theme of Elijah on Mount Car- mel. He likened today's ministers to Elijah who seemed to be alone in his fight against Baal worship. Mr. Carson said we need to believe in ,God, to accept God's leading, to practice what God directs, to show our faith, and to recognize that God is bringing the people back to himself. Next Sunday, there will be two services; the regular 11.00 a.m. Morning Prayer and a special 2:30 p.m. service of Evening Prayer.
