Street Sarnia, Ontario Gt rl- 71 THE LAWTON COUNTY BOARD .OF EDUCATION SCHOOL OPENING SECONDARY SCHOOLS • North Lambton Secondary Schools — On September 5th all buses will arrive for 9:30 a.m, — Buses will leave the school at 11:30 a.m. — Beginning September 6th buses will leave the school at 3:35 p.m. each day. • Lambton Central Collegiate-Vocational Institute, Petrolia — General staff meeting at 8:45 a.m. — Student assembly in Bradshaw Hall at 10:00 a.m. Buses will operate one hour later than the regular schedule on the first day only, and will return at 12:00 noon. • Registration for former North Lambton Secondary School Students Occupational program — third year Grades 11 and 12 — technology students (Major shops) and special commercial Students are requested to register in the School Library at the School during the week of Tuesday, August 29 to Thursday, August 31 from 9:00 a,m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Adult Education (Night School) classes will begin in L.C.C.V.I. and North Lambton on Monday, October 2, 1972. Registration will be held on the evenings of September 20 and 21 at L.C.C.V.I. and on September 21 at North Lambton. Courses to be offered will be advertised in the press at a later date and brochures containing an application form will be available from the secondary school office or from the Administration Office, 190 Wellington Street, Sarnia. ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS On Tuesday, September 5, 1972 , the opening day of school, all public elementary schools will follow regular morning hours. For the afternoon, starting time will be as usual with all schools dismissing at 2:30 p.m. Kindergarten pupils will begin during the week of September 5 on the timetable previously arranged between the parents and the principal. Parents wishing to register students or desiring further information should contact the principal of the school during the week of August 29 to September 1, 1972. • Forest Central and Forest Woodside Pupils in Kindergarten to grade 4 will enrol at Central Public School and pupils in grades 5 to 8 will enrol at Woodside Public School. For students from Kettle Point, contact Mr. Beverly Bressette for information regarding transportation. • Aberarder and Erroll Kindergarten and grades 7 and 8 students from Erroll will attend Aberarder Public School. For information contact the Principal, Mr. Bice, Aberarder during the week of August 28 to September 1. Bus routes will be the same as last year: For further information contact Kernohan Motors, Forest. Enrolment limits at Erroll may make it necessary for some Erroll area children in grades 1 to 6 to attend Aberarder as has already been arranged with the Principal. New families in the Erroll area should inquire at Erroll regarding school accommodation. • Kinnaird Public School Bus routes will be the same as last year. For kindergarten information see Bosanquet — Kindergarten. • Bosanquet Central School Arkona: All children in the village will be picked up at the school on the first day, September 5. Further notice will be given to parents by the Principal, Mr, McIntyre, during the first week of school regarding bus stops in the village. Thedford:, Students will be picked up at the bus stops used previously. Kindergarten: Parents of all registered kindergarten children from Arkona, Bosanquet, 'Medford and Kinnaird areas will receive information by mail regarding the date for first attendance at Kindergarten. Class lists will also be posted at the Bosanquet Central School. New families with kindergarten children must contact the school during the week of August 29 to September 1 to register a kindergarten pupil. There were 39 in attendance. Personals A family reunion was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Essery Sunday. A good list of sports added to the enjoyment of the afternoon with 45 attending. Mr, & Mrs. Russell Schroeder attended a family reunion on Sunday at Ben-Ber Lodge, the summer home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs, B. Webb, Grand Bend. The occasion was in Celebration of Mr. Schroeder's 80th birthday and there were 35 in attendance. Jimmie Ballantyne of Kirkton was an overnight visitor at the home of Robbie Essery last Tuesday. Robbie was celebrating a birthday. Mr. & Mrs. Don. Pickering and girls, Hyde Park, were Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Haddock. Mr. & Mrs. Fred Bowden visited last week with Mrs. Robert Smith at her cottage at Cameron Lake. Intended for last week Mrs. Bruce Field-, Paris, was a Thursday visitor at the 'home of Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins, Mr. & Mrs. Russell Schroeder and Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Hewitt of London visited for a few days last week with Mrs. Robert Smith at her cottage on Cameron Lake. Emma Schaab, Elmwood, and Mr. & Mrs. Orrna Pollock of Kincardine were visitors with Wilda Pollock at the home of her firm partners and staff and their families at their farm, home Saturday afternoon. Esther Snyder spent the weekend in Guelph with Mr. & Mrs. Ed Wellun-i. Margaret Gibson is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital this week where she underwent further surgery last Friday, Mr, & Mrs. Don Adams at- tended a family gathering Sunday at Harrow to honor Mrs, Adam's sister and brother-in- law, Mr, & Mrs. Jim Murray on their 25th wedding anniversay. The company, comprised of seven young men and three young women, is operating on an Opportunities for Youth Grant. Most come from Sarnia and most go to Lambton College. They presented an extremely varied program including a scene from the Greek tragedy, Prometheus Bound and two hilarious scenes, one from Shakespeare's A Midsummer- night's Dream and one from George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, on which the movie, My Fair Lady, is baSed. The group was naturally disappointed at their reception, but said some of the other 20 or so places they have visited have been similar. "I really wonder if people need anything extracurricular in the summer," said Devra Sullivan. "We have had a good response in some places, but I think it just depends on who happens to be around." The Lambton Youth Theatre group had last weekend off, but are planning to visit about 20 more communities before they are finished.
