The best protective equipment
you can ever own is already
yours—one pair of eyes. Just
knowing what's going on around
you helps you avoid job accidents.
So it makes good sense to look
after your eyes, with
protective glasses if
the job calls for them, and regular

below par. Take care of your

A group of 33 very talented
young musicians entertained at
the Exeter high school last
Friday night for Summersounds
'72, to a small audience, but one
of all ages,
The group of 23 boys and 10
girls are part of a program
sponsored by the Ministry of
Community and Social Services,
Youth and Recreation Branch.
The program was started last
year with one similar sized
group, but was so successful that
it has been explanded to two for
summer 1972.
The versatile members of the
group come from all over the
province and were chosen from
about 500 young people who
auditioned for a spot in Sum-
mersounds. They receive no pay,
but get costs and room and board.
Following auditions at Alma
College in St, Thomas, the group
practised for only three weeks
before going on the road, Thus
far, they have entertained in
about 20 Ontario communities,
Almost all the equipment is
rented, compliments of the
government, and according to
one of the drummers in the
group, "We have the best sound
system in Canada".
And it didn't take long to
realize that they are making full
use of the system. Members
moved lithely from one in-
strument to another, illustrating
both vocal to instrumental
talents. From soft folk-songs to
lively country and western music
and hard rock, the group had a
diversity of pace, mood and style
which created a stimulating
musical experience for those
fortunate enough to hear the
concert.
Many of the songs performed
were written by members of the
group, and their enthusiasm
generated by Summersounds '72
was evidenced in the response of
the audience.
The efforts of the local
Opportunities for Youth group•
operating in Exeter and Huron
Park made the concert possible.
