The winner of ▪ this series will advance to the first round of the WOAA "D" playoffs. Crediton scored two runs in the first inning and were never headed as hard throwing Rick Bowers held the Zurich boys to only four hits. In the Crediton first, Bill Hodge singled with one out, Keith Davey was safe on a fielder's choice and both scored as Rick Bowers delivered a timely double. Crediton again scored twice in the fifth, Keith Davey was safe on an error, Rodger Finkbeiner • followed with a single and both came around to count on Rick Bower's single and Kevin Bestard's fielder's choice. The Crediton lead went to 6 - 0 in the 'op of the sixth when Pete Wuerth beat out an infield hit, Larry Clarke walked and both scored as Ron Funston bunted safely and Keith Davey was hit by a pitch. Zurich hit the scoreboard for their only marker in the bottom of the same frame. John ,Mom- mersteeg singled, went to second on a passed ball and scored on a single from the bat of Jim Wildfong. In the Crediton eighth, Ron Funston was safe on an error, Bill Hodge was on by way of a fielder's choice and both scored on Rodger Finkbeiner's double. The final run for the winners came in the ninth when Kevin Bestard tripled and scored on a passed ball. In gaining the pitching win Rick Bowers racked up an even dozen strike-outs and retired the Zurich side in order in five of the nine innings. The four Zurich hits were singles from the bats of John Mommersteeg, Don Ayotte, Gerald Weido and Jim Wildfong, John Mommersteeg was the starting pitcher for Zurich with Pat Bedard taking over in the top of the eighth.
