On Friday afternoon Mr. & Mrs. Kernick and their daughter Mary attended Fanshawe College graduation exercises at Cen- tennial Hall, London where their son Ted received his Diploma after taking a two year course in Municipal Administration. SUE EDGINTON 4 Last Thursday, the Anglican Church Women of St. James Church met at the home of Mrs. M. Simpson. Mrs. S. St. Pierre, the vice-president, presided at the opening of the meeting, Rev, R. A. Carson led the Bible Study, from Philippians. He said that Paul was showing what the Resurrection meant to him. It is in our union with Christ that our • salvation consists. Of this union, faith is the condition, the Sacraments are the signs and seals, God the Holy Ghost is the instrument, and everlasting righteousness the result. After the business part of the meeting, Mrs. Mary Carter read • a number of articles with a thought for the day in them. President, Mrs. R. Cun- ningham, presided for the last half of the meeting. The next meeting will be held June 22, at the home of Mrs. Olive Hodgins. Church service On Sunday, Rev. Carson preached on the theme, "A return to Religion". He told how Isaiah answered the call to be a leader for God. He said we, too, should be like • Isaiah, and respond, "Here am I, send me", Rev. Carson cited three points that Isaiah felt were necessary in any return to religion. They were: a return to religion must be a return to morals; it must be social, that is, religion is for everyone; and religion is per- sonal, June 4, is the first Sunday after Trinity. Mrs. Bud Gallagher, Ottawa, visited last week with her mother, Mrs. Eva Allison, Brinsley United Church at- tended the 106th anniversary services at Ailsa Craig United Church, May 28, when Rev. John Davies, Stratford, a former „„„,,,. minister, was guest speaker for both morning and evening ser- vices. Mrs. Wm. Luther, Mrs. Dean, and Kathleen Morley were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Violet Allison, Ailsa Craig. Mrs. Gertrude Glenn was a patient in the hospital recently. Frank Vanneste, who pur- chased George Mercer's farm last year, is having it tilled, Howard Fenton recently sold his farm. There was no church service at l3rinsley Anglican Church Sunday, owing to anniversary services at Ailsa Craig Anglican Church. Dawson McGregor, Ailsa Craig, has been engaged as caretaker of Mar's Hill and St. Mary's cemeteries. Pignning sign for church front The regular meeting of the Exeter A.C.W. was held in the Parish Hall, with Mrs. Doidge presiding. The meeting opened with Mrs. A. Carter taking the devotions, Reports were given on the annual meeting held in London and on the deanery held in Exeter, Monday, A discussion was held on a new sign to be placed in front of the church. This was left for further investigation. It was decided to hold a Strawberry Supper in June. Pictures were shown of the Northwest Territories by Mrs. M. Greene, taken of her trip last year. These were very in- teresting and showed the vast- ness of the country. Lunch was served by Mrs. N. Wells and Miss M. Bissett. Anyone who starts a forest fire may be charged under the Criminal Code of Canada. who graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing London. Guests were present from Parkhill, Crediton, Exeter, Hensall, London, Dorchester and Toronto. Dedication to Mission Service A combined Dedication to Mission service of Elimville and Thames Road was held Sunday morning. The C,G.I.T. girls were the ushers. The scripture lessons were read by members of the messengers, Margaret Pym and Brenda Hodgert. Prayers were read alternately by Janice Stewart and Sylvia Stewart followed by the Lord's Prayer in unison. Elaine Pym a member of the Explorer Group read a poem, and the choir sang a number. The offering was taken by Tyros boys Ricky Skinner, Lawrence Kellett, Gerald Johns, and Lee Hodgert. The Dedication to Missions speech was given by Howard Pym and the treasurer Donald Bray received the offering presented by Pauline Pym and' Joan Cooper from the Messengers; Nancy Cooper from the Explorers; Ricky Skinner from the Tyros; Laura Johns and Janice Alexander from the C.G.I.T. and Nancy Alexander from the Youth Fellowship, all spoke, and John Miner from the Youth Fellowship gave a reading "What Does Youth Have To Offer". Rev. Stewart Miner gave the sermon "Dedication to Mission". The U.C.W. meeting will be held June 1 at 8:30 p.m. Roll call will be answered by bringing an article for the kitchen. Personals The Hodgert relatives, friends and neighbours gathered at Russel dale Hall Saturday evening to honor Mr. & Mrs. Mark Strapp, London, on the occasion of "their twentieth wedding anniversary, which was on May 24, 1972, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Elford of Elimville, and Mrs. Donald Bray attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Annie Walsh at Hamilton, Friday.
