Last Thursday, the Anglican
Church Women of St. James
Church met at the home of Mrs.
M. Simpson. Mrs. S. St. Pierre,
the vice-president, presided at
the opening of the meeting,
Rev, R. A. Carson led the Bible
Study, from Philippians. He said
that Paul was showing what the
Resurrection meant to him. It is
in our union with Christ that our
• salvation consists. Of this union,
faith is the condition, the
Sacraments are the signs and
seals, God the Holy Ghost is the
instrument, and everlasting
righteousness the result.
After the business part of the
meeting, Mrs. Mary Carter read
• a number of articles with a
thought for the day in them.
President, Mrs. R. Cun-
ningham, presided for the last
half of the meeting. The next
meeting will be held June 22, at
the home of Mrs. Olive Hodgins.
Church service
On Sunday, Rev. Carson
preached on the theme, "A return
to Religion".
He told how Isaiah answered
the call to be a leader for God. He
said we, too, should be like
• Isaiah, and respond, "Here am I,
send me",
Rev. Carson cited three points
that Isaiah felt were necessary in
any return to religion. They
were: a return to religion must be
a return to morals; it must be
social, that is, religion is for
everyone; and religion is per-
sonal,
June 4, is the first Sunday after
Trinity. Holy Communion will be
celebrated in St. James Church,
at 9:45 a.m.
