T-A photo Former Lucanite passes away At the Mason Villa Hospital on May 12, 1972, Mrs. Jennie (Shoebotham) Brock of 22 Clif- tonvale, Ave London passed away in her 85th year. She was the wife of Johnathan Brock, and mother of Mrs. Russell (Marion) Hills, of Alvinston, & Edward of Toronto. Also surviving are Mrs, Violet Hardy of Lucan, nine grand- children and one great-grandson. Mrs. Brock is a former Lucanite who lived in Lucan for many years on Alice St. The funeral was held Monday with interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Sunshine club meets The Sunshine Club met in the Masonic Hall Thursday with president Mrs. Harry Bond Sr. presiding. Fourteen members were present and euchre was enjoyed by all. Vacation Home Niagara Falls trip for newlywed couple Patricia Doreen Smith and John W. Ward were united in marriage at Lucan United Church on May 6, 1972 in a ser- vice conducted by Rev. W. C. Tupling. Music was provided by Mrs. Marilyn Dykeman. The bride wore a lovely white legada wedding gown, with a high neckline trimmed with embroidered lace. The full, cuff- trimmed sleeves were also trimmed with lace. A long chapel train hung from her shoulders to the hem-line. A Juliet cap of lace and seed pearls held her shoulder length silk illusion veil, The bride carried a cascade of yellow roses and a mauve orchid and was given in marriage by her father, Jean Hickson, sister of the bride, was the maid of honour and wore a yellow floor length dress of dotted Swiss with a low scoop neck and short puffed sleeves. The other attendant, Linda, also a sister of the bride, wore the same style, in mauve. Both carried white wicker baskets filled with yellow mums and white and mauve daisies, The best man was Terry Hickson and Dave Smith was the usher. After a reception at Lucan Community Centre the couple took a wedding trip to Niagara Falls. The bride's going-away outfit consisted of a red, white and navy vest-dress set with red and navy accessories. The couple will reside in Lucan. Explorer group make topiary tree The Lucan Clandeboye Explorers met in the United Church for their last expedition May 8. Each girl made a topiary tree to be used as decorations at the Mother and Daughter Banquet, May 19. Ten gold star girls will graduate, The May Chief Explorer Dianne Lynn will be mistress of ceremonies at the Banquet. Tops Club The Tops Club held their weekly meeting in the Masonic Hall Wednesday with Mrs. Brigetta Van Geel presiding. There was a good attendance and weight loss. Plans were com- pleted for the convention in June. McGillivray man dies suddenly Edward Stuart Ovens of Lot 33, Concession 2, ' McGillivray Township died suddenly in St. Joseph's Hospital on Wednesday May tenth 1972 in his 76th year. He was the husband of the former Hazel Quick, and father of John, RR 2, Lucan and Alfred at home. Also surviving are his sisters Mrs. Muriel McLellan of Ilderton, Mrs, Ivan (Florence) Stanley of London Township and his brothers Harvey of McGillivray Township and Frank of Toronto. Funeral services were held May 12 at the C. Haskett & Son Funeral Home Lucan with in- terment in Carlisle Cemetery. Vows exchanged by area couple At Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Lucan, Nancy Ellen Hardy and Andrew James Van Geel pledged their wedding vows on May 5, 1972. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a dress she designed and made herself. The gown was pink chiffon over deeper pink crepe, with crystals at the empire waist, the neck- band and on the full-length train. The full sleeves were caught at the wrist with crystals, lace and full cuffs. She carried a cascade bouquet of white sweetheart roses and pink carnations, trailing ribbon and ivy. The service was per- formed by Rev. Robert Carson. Gordon Jacklin of London was the organist, and the soloist was Mike Culburt of Lucan. The bride was attended by a matron of honour, Mrs. Ken Hardy, sister-in-law of the bride, bridesmaid Mrs. Robert Flan- nigan, sister of the groom, a junior bridesmaid, Jane. Hardy, sister of the bride, and a flower girl, Angela Hardy, the bride's niece. They wore matching full-length dresses of Victorian print, white with tiny pink roses and trimmed with pink velvet ribbon. The attendants carried lighted candles in wrought-iron holders, surrounded by pink sweetheart roses and daisies, and trailing ivy, The best man was Peter Van Geel, and ushers were Ken Hardy and Frank Van Geel. The reception was held in the church dining room, after which the couple flew to Florida for their honeymoon. The couple will reside in London. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hardy, Lucan and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van Geel, Lucan.
