GRAND BEND
Orpha Club held their final
meeting for the season Tuesday
evening at the home of Mrs. W.
Desjardine in Oakwood Park. All
articles made by the ladies
during the winter months were on
display showing girls dresses,
crib quilts, and boys pants and
tops, boys shirts, baby layette,
and knitted articles.
Five ladies from Zurich were
guests. The draw for the evening
was won by Mrs. Merner, A raffle
donated and made by Mrs. S.
Devine was won by Mrs. L. Ginn.
During the business, thank you
notes were read from Mrs. Etta
Baker, Mrs. C. Reeves and Mrs.
L, Luther for having received an
Easter lily from the Club.
A pot luck dinner was planned
for May 9 to be held in the town
hall.
Sunday Service
The primary Sunday School
attended the Sunday service of
worship in the United Church.
They performed in their usual
happy way by singing with
actions and were led by Mrs. Wm
Brenner.
Debbie Holt and Joanne Lovie
read the scripture readings. Rev.
Dobson's sermon subject was
"Fishing" an appropriate
message for the opening of the
trout season, He reminded his
congregation not to forget to
thank God for the lakes and the
fish and for His goodness to us,
Mrs. Gary Brenner was guest
soloist.
Personals
Last week family and relatives
of bride elect Karen Jennison
held a miscellaneous shower in
her honour at the home of
Karen's aunt, Mrs. Emerson
Desjardine.
Sunday afternoon Melanie
West entertained for bride-elect
of May 27 Dianne Mason at the
home of Irene Gill. Guests were
present from Watford, London,
Stratford, Hensall and Grand
Bend.
Mr. & Mrs. W. Thomson visited
in Windsor over the weekend.
Mr. & Mrs. Doug Martin
returned home from the south
where they spent the winter
months.
Mrs. Idamae Eccleston
returned to her home in Grand
Bend having spent the winter at
Laguna Beach, California.
Elizabeth Kennedy arrived
home Saturday having spent a
four month work term in
Kirkland Lake.
Mrs. Emery Desjardine is a
patient in Strathroy hospital.
