In the book of Ecclesiastes it
says, "'l'o every thing there is a
season, and a time for every
purpose under the heavens."
Sometime, somewhere most of
us have got off the track.
"There's not enough time," we
wail. "Where does the time fly?"
we. ask. "Give me more time,"
we heseech, . as if it can be
manufactured on sonic assembly
line.
To others, time hangs heavily
on their hands. Some are bored
with it. "Nothing to do," they
complain.
Ot one thing we can be sure . .
Time is going to run out for all of
us.
How often we say:
"1 w as going to write a letter to
my friend who lost her mother
but i had to bake a pie for the
bazaar and there wasn't time."
"I was going to read a story to
ins four-year-old when I tucked
him into bed last night but I had
to rush off to my club meeting
and there wasn't time,"
"I said I'd help my youngster
With his homework but I had to
„...hurry to my night school class
and there wasn't time,"
"I planned to bake some
cookies and take them to that
lonely old man who lives on the
other side of town but I had an
appointment with my hair
dresser and there wasn't time."
"I said I'd listen to my 12 year
old daughter read her essay on
"What I Wish the World was
Like," hut I was in the middle of

A district clergyman phoned,
after he'd read the column, to
recount an hilarious episode of
getting himself locked up under
similar circumstances.
Seems like he was travelling in
the old country a year ago and
just before the train pulled into
his station he decided to make a
quick trip to the wash-room.
What I thought had happened to
Inc, actually did happen to him
and he found, to his horror, he
couldn't budge the door.
What to do?
No one could hear him above
the noise of the train and he had
to get out before the locomotive
pulled out of his station.
This is where you separate the
men from the women. Using his
technical know-how, he took the
top off the water tank, unhooked
a piece of hardware to unscrew
the screw-nails in the door hinges
to get the door off and make his
escape just before they pulled
into his station.
lie confessed he was extremely
agitated by the whole affair.
Glad to know there are two of
us.

—I Was going to spend a whole,

"1 told my 17 year-old-daughter
I'd make some food and she could
have her friends in for the
evening but then I recalled I'd
promised to help with the
program at the church meeting
and there wasn't time."
"I swore I'd pack all those
outgrown clothes into a box for
the Children's Aid but I had to

fancily and there wasn't lime."
"I was going to go to the school
and see my boy play the part of a

"I told the young mother down
on the corner I'd keep her little
ones some afternoon so she could
have a Few hours free but I had
this interesting book on religion
to read and there wasn't Lime."
No time? Yet Ecclesiastes
states emphatically there's time
for everything.
"A time to plant and a time to
pluck up that which is planted;
"A lime to weep, and a time to
laugh; a time to mourn and a
lime to dance;
"A time to cast away stones
and a time to gather stones
together; a time to embrace and
a time to refrain from em-
bracing:
"A time to get, and a time to
lose; a time to keep, and a time
to give;
"A time to rend, and a time to
sew: a time to keep silence and a
time to speak:
"A time to love and a time to
hate: a time of war and a time of
peace."
The section ends with this
question, "What does a man gain
for the efforts that he makes?"
Jerusalem translation )
What indeed?
With all our busyness and our
anguish about not having enough
lime what do we gain from it all,
anyway?

Kinettes give
to charity
The Kinette Club of Exeter held
their November meeting at the
home of Mrs. Bill Batten.
Club president, Mrs. Dean
McKnight opened the meeting
and presented two new members,
Mrs. Art Hunkin and Mrs. Bob
Bailey with their by-laws and
pins.
The club decided to donate $25
to the Childrens' Aid Society and
$111 to The Muscular Dystrophy
A ssociation.
The Christmas project is a
baby doll with wardrobe, and the
members turned in their ticket
sales plus some more clothes for
the doll. It will be set up in a store
window and the draw will be
made December 13. It was an-
nounced that the clown suits will
all be available for the Santa
Claus parade.
Mrs. Fred Lankamp is looking
after placing a Christmas plant in
South Huron Hospital. Kinettes
will have a dine-out Christmas
party at Zurich and then return to
Mrs. Ron Moore's home for the
balance of the evening.
The regular draw brought by
Mrs. Dean McKnight was won by
Mrs. Garry Spencer.
The meeting was adjourned
and Mrs. Bill Batten gave an
interesting pottery demon-
stration, and also explained how
to make a Topiary Tree for
Christmas. Mrs. Batten en-
couraged the members to try
orking with the pottery clay
which they found interesting and

Lunch was served by Mrs.
Batten assisted by Mrs.
McKnight.
