CROMARTY
The Thankoffering service as
contained in the Glad Tidings was
used as the worship for the
Thanksgiving meeting of
Cromarty church Women's
Missionary Society.
The president Mrs, Mervin
Dow presided and welcomed
members of the Marian Ritchie
Auxiliary as their guests. She led
in the service of dedication and
the call to worship, Psalm 103 was
read in unison and Mrs. Calder
McKaig, Mrs, Charles Douglas
and Mrs. M. Lamond each read
scripture passages.
The guest speaker, Mrs.
Norman Coulthard of St, Pauls,
used as the subject for her ad-
dress, "Fruits of Gratitude." A
solo, "What Shall I give Thee
Master" was sung by Mrs, Hazel
Sadler of Sault Ste, Marie, and a
suitable topic was given by Miss
Olive Speare.
Mrs, C. McKaig reported 7
cards and visits to the sick, Mrs.
T, L. Scott gave courtesy
remarks. Refreshments were
served with Mrs. Charles
Douglas as convener of the lunch
committee.

The Dashwood I 4-H
Homemaking Club held a supper
party in the basement of Calvary
United Church, October 25.
Mothers and friends were in-
vited and the basement was
decorated with a Hallowe'en
theme.
A smorgasbord dinner was
enjoyed, the food being prepared
by the 4-H members from their
recipe pamphlets,
Following supper vice-
president Debbie Riddell
welcomed the guests and the 4-H
pledge followed.
Mrs. Lloyd Beaver was in
charge of the entertainment.
Prizes at Bunco were won by
Mrs. Anna Van Wyck and Donna
Dietrich. Mrs. Ella Zemetis and
Judy Guy were low prize win-
ners.
Mrs. Gordon Bender reminded
the girls to hand in their record
books by November 3 and invited
the mothers to attend

the Lucan-Ilderton Jets won their
second consecutive game of the
year as they edged Jim Ball
Sheet Metal of London by a 7-5
score.
The Jets are back in action at
the Huron Park arena, Friday
night at 8:30 when they take on
the University of Western
Ontario Mustangs.
Unable to find a suitable league
to play in this year, the Jets will
be participating in an exhibition
schedule against top notch clubs,
Third period decides
Three goals by the Lacan-
Merton club in the third period
with only a single reply from the
opposition gave the Jets victory,
In the first period the Jets took
a 3-1 lead but in the second
session the scoring was exactly
reversed with the score being tied
at 4-4 after 40 minutes of play.
Bill White with two goals led
the Jet scoring in the first period.
John Pirie and Pete Loveless
assisted on White's first scoring
effort while Dick Doughty helped
out on the second.
The third Jet goal of the
opening session was fired by
Doug Galloway on a slap shot
after being set up by Barry Irwin.
Bill Lee scored the only London
goal,
In the second period, it was
Pete Loveless from Dick Doughty
and Bill White to account for the
only L-I scoring. Ray Teasdale,
Mark Macera and Ron Schwindt
tallied for London.
Three goals by the Jets in the
first half of the third frame en-
sured their victory, Dick
Irvin received his 15 year service
plaque.
Clandeboye
girls bake

The last three meetings of the
Clandeboye 4-H Fruit Fritters
consisted of new, different and
exciting recipes using fruit.
The girls had spirited and
debatable discussions and always
ended their meetings by sam-
pling the dishes they had
prepared. During their meeting
the girls have successfully made
the following. Raspberry Ba-
varian, Peach Layer Dessert;
Fruit Sauce; Apricot Puffs;
Oriental Chicken and Apple Pie,
using three different crusts,
Butter Tarts were also made
using a fourth crust recipe.
Achievement day is one of the
main events of the 4-H Clubs and
the girls have "cooked" up some
different ideas. The future
homemakers may be seen
