Testaments to the 1971 class, five
white Testaments to registered
nurses and three black
Testaments to ladies of the staff
of South Huron Hospital last
Wednesday evening in the
auxiliary room of the hospital.
Mrs. Squire Herdman, Elim-
read the scripture and Mrs.
Earl Oesch, Zurich, gave a talk
on the program preceding the
presentation. Mrs. Bruce Cann
sang two solos accompanied by
Mrs. Ed Finkbeiner. Mrs,
Thompson gave the dedicatory
prayer.
Later Mrs. Alvin Cudmore
conducted games and contests
after which refreshments were
served and a social hour enjoyed.

traditional floor length gown
fashioned from Chantilly lace
styled with wedding band
necklace,Victorian sleeves, fitted
bodice with bouffant tiered skirt
and detachable semi cathedral
train, A petal floral pearled
cluster held in place the scalloped
four tiered French illusion
blusher veil. She carried a
bouquet of white, baby roses,
mauve and pink carnations and
purple mums with ivy.
Miss Viola Tweddle, Calgary,
sister of the bride, was maid-of-
honor, while Gayle
Haynes,London, Janet Tweddle,
sister of the bride and Shirley
Wright, London, sister of the
groom were bridesmaids. They
were gowned alike in pink
lavender chiffon floor length
gowns complemented by mat-
ching florist arrangements worn
in their hair. They carried
bouquets of white, pink and
mauve carnations. Angela
Bowers, Merlin, cousin of the
bride as flower girl, wore a
short white frock, with mauve
trim, She carried a bouquet of
white, pink and mauve car-
nations.
Attending his brother as best
man was John H. Wright, Lon-
don. The guests were ushered by
Wayne Tweddle, brother of the
bride, Jerry Wright, Belmont,
cousin of the groom and Larry
Colfax, London. Chris Wright,
London, nephew of the groom
acted as ring-bearer.
After a reception in the church
rooms the bride changed to a
purple hot-pant suit with black
accessories and a corsage of
white carnations for travelling to
Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Wright will reside
in London.
Prior to her marriage, showers
were given by Mrs. Charles
Wright, Belmont, Mrs. Shirley
Thompson, Parkhill, Mrs. Gail

Mrs. Tweddle held open house
in her daughter's honor at her
home.
At the meeting of the Women's
Auxiliary to South Huron
Hospital Tuesday afternoon it
was revealed that a deep-freeze
had been purchased for the
hospital kitchen by the Auxiliary.
It has already been installed and
is in use. A refrigerator is on
order for the hospital wing.
To date $995 has been collected
for Tag Day held Saturday
October 2 and convened by Mrs.
D. Ecker assisted by Mrs. R.E.
Pooley, Mrs. L. Snider and Mrs.
R. Morley. Huron Park was not
"tagged" owing to previous
commitments but will be can-
vassed at a later date.
Guest speaker for the afternoon
was Mrs. Beth Batten who, in an
interesting manner, traced the
history of healing and of hospitals
to earlier times. "Hospitals as
known today are fairly modern as
compared to the use of temples
for healing beginning in Moses'
lime", Mrs. Batten said. She
noted that cleanliness was
stressed expressing the proverb
that "cleanliness is next to
godliness" and as there were no
antibiotics, an ounce of
prevention is worth a pound of
cure."
The speaker continued "In
Egypt sick people were brought
to market places as well as
temples and the temple priests,
who administered to them,
bathed four to six times daily and
shaved their bodies, even their
heads and drinking water was
