By SID DALEY
The other day I had occasion to
go to one of the large chain stores
in the city. I noticed a large
display of beautiful flowers, over
the display hung the following
sign 'Only the bees know the
difference!' Sure enough they
were artificial. They looked real
hut were phoney. I thought, how
true this is in life, there are so
many things we have accepted as
being authentic, when in fact,
they are artificial or phoney.
• My Comrades, I assure you
there is nothing artificial or
phoney about the Royal Canadian
Legion, we live up to our motto
'Service to others Not Self.'
Come over to the Legion and you
will see in truth what
Comradeship really is; come to
the Branch Meetings and you
will see in Truth what Service to
the veteran, his widow and or-
phan really is; join in on our
programs and you will see in
Truth our contribution to the
community by sponsoring public
speaking, essay contests, track
and field, hockey, baseball,
bursary, low cost housing and
many other projects too
numerous to mention.
The Legion, artificial, phoney,?
No way, Comrades, an old adage
goes 'The Proof Of The Pudding
Is In The Eating.' The Legion has
lots of good 'Pudding' Com-
rades, all you have to do, is dig
in and help yourself.
On Friday, October 8 at 8.00
p.m. Branch 540 will hold a 'Pub
Nite' as a token of appreciation to
the Comrades and Ladies who
worked so hard during 'Irish
Nights' held at Branch 540 during
Lucan's Centennial Celebrations.

'Irish Night' welcome to 'Pub
