Alhambra Hall where the Huron Hope Nursery .School for Handicap children is held three half days a week. This school is under the supervision of South Huron and District Association for the Mentally Retarded. Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Baker have sold their home on Ontario Strept and intend to take up residence near Arkona. Wks. Jessie Finkbeiner has returned from. St. .Joseph's Hospital. Mrs. Stella, Kerr, Sarnia, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Baker visited Monday with Mr. & Mrs. Colin Love. Mrs, Allen Walper is a patient in Victoria Hospital. - Mrs. Raymon English is convalescing after being in hospital at Green Gables Nursing HoMe, Parkhill. Mr. & Mrs. Manford Belling of Florida are visiting this week at "Thistle-do-me" cottage on Pine St. Thursday evening with a pot luck supper when mothers entertained their daughters. There were seventy in attendance. Mrs. Alvin Cottle was hostess for the supper with Mrs. Donald Kernick and Mrs. Ken Duncan assisting. After supper a sing song was enjoyed under the leadership of Mrs,Reg Hodgert with Mrs, Ray Cann at the piano. A humorous skit was given by Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne and Mrs. Fleming Simpson. Mrs. Stewart Miner was chairlady of the panel entitled, `Time'. Those on the panel were Mrs. Glen Stewart, Sylvia Stewart, Beth Passmore and Joanne Hodgert. Mrs, Barry Jeffery commented on the panel and also led'in prayer, Mrs. Floyd Stewart president was in charge of the business. PERSONALS Mrs. Gordon J. Roger of Blenheim visited a few days with Mr. & Mrs. R, L. Clayton last week. Dr. R. L. Clayton has returned home after having surgery in Westminster Hospital, London. Rev. and Mrs. H. Dobson have returned home from their summer vacation. Rev. Dobson resumed his ministry last Sunday at the open air church service. The meeting was opened with the 4H pledge followed by the election of officers, The president is Beth Passmore; vice-president, Carolyn Glan- ville; secretary, Cathy Easton; press reporter, Janice Alexan- der. Leaders Mrs, Glen Stewart and Darlene Passmore discussed the requirements of a club member and introduced the new course, `Dairy Fare' by describing dif- ferent types of milk and their uses. A snack of grilled cheese sandwiches and hot cocoa was enjoyed by all and the meeting was adjourned by Freda Zan- bergen. The first meeting of Hurondale V was held in the Church, August 30. The officers elected are president, Sylvia Stewart; vice- president, Darcy Etherington; secretary, Janice Stewart; press reporter, Sandra Stewart. A cornerstone from the old church has been cut down and is being placed in the foundation of the new structure. Since the November fire, the Brucefield congregation has been worshipping at the Kippen United Church. Both churches are on the same charge being served by Rev. Paul Packman. Members of the community and the church's 110-family congregation donated items for the sale as well as offering other items for sale by consignment. By the "consignment" arrangement, persons offer goods for sale with the church fund receiving 25 per cent of the sale price. EMEINES SWEN Close to $600 was realized Saturday from an auction sale held at the Brucefield ball park to raise monies to help in con- struction of a new United Church building. Construction on the new building by Riehl Construction of New Hamburg started last month and building committee chair- man Ross Scott said this week he expected the new church would be ready for occupancy early in ,the new year. Mrs. M. Lamond presided and used as the theme for the program, 'Let Us be Glad.' Readings by the boys and girls were read alternately and the roll call was answered by naming an animal mentioned in the Bible. A hymn, 'Lord I want to be a Christian' was sung by the children with Marilyn Laing at the piano and Mrs. T. L. Scott as director. A film strip, 'The Bible: in the World,' was presented by Mrs. M. Lamond and was introduced with readings by Marilyn Laing. Mrs. Mervin Dow, Mrs. T. L, Scott and Mrs. J. R. Jefferson as refreshment hostesses served lunch with the children assisting.
