Muller are in their homeland, Holland for a three week holiday. Richard Trainor, Hamilton, visited with his mother, Mrs. Frank Trainor for a few days. Joe Carey spent a few days in London visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Carey. Mr. & Mrs. Joe Carey visited with Mr. & Mrs. Jim Carey, Saturday evening at their cottage in Grand Bend. Sister St. Michael, London, and her brother, Rev. Father Vincent Guinan C.S.B. of Houston, Texas, are visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Tom Ryan and Mr, & Mrs. Michael Ryan also with Mrs. Gerard McCarthy of Maidstone, The Grand Bend Medical Centre officially opened its doors for business Friday of last week with Dr. Sean Trapp and Dr, Liam O'Connor in charge. The two 26 year-old doctors arrived from Ireland a little more than two weeks ago and will be on call 24 hours per day, Dr. O'Connor told the T-A Tuesday morning "we will be alternating on evenings and weekends but for the big Civic Holiday weekend coming up we will both be working." Until an answering service is arranged, a notice will be at- tached to the front door of the medical centre giving in- formation as to the means of contacting the doctors. At the moment Dr. O'Connor and his wife Dorothy and 17 month old son Jonathan are ' staying at the home of Medical Centre committee chairman Bill • Sturdevant while Dr. Trapp, a bachelor is residing with secretary Jack Mennell. Chairman Sturdevant said everything seems to be under control for the official opening of the Centre scheduled for Sunday August 8 at 2:30 p.m. Invitations are being sent to the four area Members of Parliament, R. E. McKinley and Charles MacNaughton for Huron and James Lind and Lorne Henderson for Lambton along with all persons that made donations to the $30,000 Centre. ..,,..,,,,Donations may still be sent to the secretary Jack Mennell at the Chamber of Commerce office at Grand Bend. Plans are underway to bring a dentist to the Bend to complete the program started several years ago. Dr. O'Connor said the facilities at the Centre are excellent. At the moment, secretarial needs of the doctors are being taken care of by a volunteer, Mrs. Gary Brenner. The doctors indicated the only problem they have encountered in Grand Bend to date is in fin- ding satisfactory housing ac- commodation. The Irish doctors first heard about the opportunities in Grand Bend when Dr. Copeman of the Ontario Health Services placed an ad in a British medical journal about a year ago. They met Dr. Copeman in London, England in November and eventually it was by mutual agreement that Drs. O'Connor and Trapp came to Grand Bend. They selected Grand Bend as their first choice and at the same time the Grand Bend committee decided they wanted the Irish pair. Drs. O'Connor and Trapp had worked together in an Irish hospital for about three months before they applied for the Canadian positions.
