IL Wttereh This, by no means, ended the evening; no way, comrades. Lucan's 540 had to appear on the agenda of our friends from 54 somewhere and sure enough we brought them to Lucan. I am sure the girls from Haileybury will have fond memories of the fine comradship and hospitality given them during their brief visit at lively 540. IN MEMORIAM Comrade WALTER SCOTT 1908-1971 WE WILL REMEMBER HIM We were saddened indeed with the passing of our good friend, Comrade Walter Scott of Strathroy. On June 11th Comrade Scott was at Branch 540 and assisted in the installation of our 1971-72 Executive. It hardly seems possible that he was taken from us so soon after. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to his life's companion, Dorothy and family. Comrades, Saturday, July 10 Branch 540 will host the Zone A-5 horse shoe tournament. As defending Zone champions, we trust all of 540's exponents of the fine art of horseshoe pitching are getting their arms in shape to keep the championship at 540. Therefore, comrades, if you see some of our members walking around swinging their arms in a most peculiar manner, remember they are tuning up those fine muscles much the same as any athlete must, in preparation for this grand match. Incidentally, the Tournament will be held in the Legion Parking lot. So, come on over and cheer your team on to victory. We are sorry to hear that Comrade Doreen Crudge and Comrade Charlie Coughlin's wife, Betty, are patients in the St, Joseph's Hospital. We wish you both a speedy recovery to good health, Ladies. And that's 30 for this week. Saturday started off to be like any other until the telephone rang, and being the closest, I answered; a female voice replied, "Hello, I bet you don't know who's calling. Hum-m-m, now who could be calling at this time of morning and on a Saturday. Ah - inspiration! "Sounds like a Haileyburian" says I. "You're right" was the reply, and sure enough it was the girls from Branch 54, Haileybury, who had journeyed to Blyth to participate in the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Provincial Dart Tournament. Yep, you guessed it, the wife and I landed in Blyth, and it certainly was a pleasure for us to greet our old friends from the north and talk over old times and of course, some of the latest gossip. My goodness, these Ladies of our Auxiliary sure take their Darts seriously. I'll wager there were about 200 dart players in attendance along with Madam provincial president and her executive. The final results being the team from Ridgeway emerging as winners and with the win, the Provincial Trophy, prizes and the honor of hosting the 1972 Dart Tour- nament. NDP pick Cont'd. from Front Page Carroll said farmers have been reduced to hired men working for the processors and packers. He added, "marketing boards must be controlled by producers. They are now puppets of the govern- ment. In his address Archdeacon Bolton said the next election would be free enterprise against socialism. He also cited the present taxation system as being regressive atid hurting the poor people more than the rich. The NDP tax policy would get money from the people that have it. :4111' Doidge, Rick Stagg, Mrs. Rammeloo, Second Row, Bonnie Date, Charlene Tuckey, Brian Taylor, Denise Wyatt, Kim Smith, Brenda Snell, Wendy Taylor, Kim Postill, Ron Brand, Brad Wilson, Lynda Tugwcll, Barb Rawlings, John Wurrn.
