Hawks
— Continued from Page 6
with Exeter fans. Other smaller
establishments were also filled
up,
When the team has arrived at
the Haliburton arena around 5;30
p,m. several car loads of Exeter
fans were already there waiting
for the arena to open.
CHANGE WAS SUCCESSFUL -
A change in take-off time for the
trifr to Haliburton and in eating
habits appeared to pay off for the
Hawks,
Saturday's was the only game
of the series in which the team
making the long trip the same
day put up an excellent showing:
Coach Bob White felt in the
second trip for the fifth game the
club was in the north too early
with too much time to kill before
game time.
Saturday the club left Exeter at
11.15 a.m. and stopped in
Newmarket for a leisurely din-
ner. After consuming steaks, the
team headed for Haliburton
arriving at 30.
Coach White took the entire
team downtown for a walk and
light refreshments that were
restricted to a glass of milk and a
chocolate bar.
The players were back at the
arena with less than two hours to
game time and dressed for a
• fairly early workout.
For the trip back home, sand-
wiches prepared by Marg
Murley, Val Gould, Edith Willert
and Ruth White were gobbled up
by the hungry players.
Trainer Don Campbell who
does an excellent job of keeping
the Hawks skates in sharp con-
dition tried to stay in the same
physical condition by following
the bus home for about a half
mile (on foot that is).
EXCITEMENT WINS - The
excitement of the final game
• proved too much for Huskies
manager Scott Larue. The for-
mer Seaforth junior star who
• owns the Haliburton club with his
father, Albert handled the public
address announcing for the first
two periods butwas having trouble
keeping his mind on the an-
* nouncing as he watched the
exciting action.
He relinquished his post for a
spectator role in the third period
and in the final few minutes left
the press box for the quiet of the
dressing room.
