Saturday, the novice all-stam
were playing at Forest in the
Silver Stick Tournament. The
house league players that turned
up at the arena were divided into
two teams and two hours of
+ hockey followed.
A total of four goals were
scored, three by David Atthill and
one by Dan Mittelholtz.
The score was kept low due to
the fact the two coaches put on
the pads and played goal:
By the way, the novice team
won the 'B' championship at
Forest defeating Trenton,
Michigan in the final game 3-2.
The mite tournament at the
arena on Wednesday was a
rousing success. It is hoped to
enlarge the tournament next year
`••• to two days with 16 teams
competing.
The executive of the Exeter
mites have to be commended for
the way they set up and handled
this tournament. I won't mention
any names for fear of missing
some one. But, "well done."

The losing streak of the Lucan
Irish in OHA junior `D' play has
reached a total of three games.
Wednesday, the Lucan Irish
handed over third place to the
Tavistock Braves, losing to the
visitors by a 9-7 score. The ninth
goal was scored in an open net at
19:58 of the third period as the
Irish tried to tie the score. This
was the best game of the year
for the Irish and although they
lost the game they proved they
could play heads-up hockey for
a full 60 minutes.
In the first period Jack
Bradley, Jim Macklem and Tom
Hodgins scored for the Irish,
while Bruce Bender. Larry

Hohner and Clare Bean scored
for the Braves. Lucan was
out-scored in the second period
3-2 with Bob Zehr scoring twice
and Keith McIntosh once for the
visitors, while Dave Revington
scored twice for the good guys.
In the third period Bruce
Schwartzentruber scored once
and Clare Bean twice. Tom
Hodgins and Jim Hearn each got
one for the Irish.
Bruce Maslen started in the
nets for Lucan but was lifted
early in the third period in
favour of John McLean.
Tavistock outshot Lucan 49-34
and this was enough to win the
game. Lucan had 9 minor
penalties to 6 for the Braves.
This was an exciting game
with both teams handing out
solid checks and skating both
ways. The shots on goal would
indicate that the Lucan defense
needs more practice at the art of
defense but this hopefully will
come.
' Sunday, the Irish played their
first Sunday home game. This
was against the Hensall
Combines. Hensall won by a 7-4
score before a very disappointed
home crowd. This is the third
straight loss for the Irish and
dropped them well into fourth
place.
John McKinley scored five
goals for the Combines which
were enough to win the game.
Ron Desjardine and John
Corriveau added two more goals.
For the Irish Jim Hearn and
Tom Hodgins scored two apiece.
The Irish were outshot 45-33.
Minors play

The bantams gained a 3-3 tie

while the other two clubs were
shut-out. The pee wees lost 2-0
while the midgets were on theshort
end of a 6-0 score.
Brian Taylor, Steven Pfaff and
Brad Datars were the bantam

Against Dorchester, December
29, the minor clubs fared a lot
better getting a win and two ties
in three starts.
In the opening contest, the pee
wees played to a 3.3 tie, the
Exeter bantams scored a 4-1 win
in the middle game and the two
midget clubs battled to a 4.4 draw
in the windup game.
Brian Clarke, Robert Heard
