By MRS. J. H. PITON
Sunday, at the Memorial
Service in St. James Anglican
Church, the Rev. W. C. Tupling of
the United Church took the
prayers and Rev. Carson read the
lesson and preached the sermon,
The offering was received at the
cemetery gates by members of
the Cemetery Board. A large
crowd decorated the graves and
the cemetery was filled with the
colour of flowers.
In his sermon Rev. Carson
preached on Grief and how to
handle it , Grief is something
everyone experiences and Mr.
Carson said his concern was that
people learn to handle their grief
not avoid it.
Rev. Carson sighted the story
of the Raising of Lazarus as an
example of how Jesus dealt with
grief. When he heard of Mary and
Martha's need he went without
invitation; he allowed them to
express their anger. "Grief needs
to be expressed in a healthy
way," said Mr. Carson.
We assist each other in grief by
offering support, by assisting in
the actualizing of the loss, by
listening to the expression of
feelings and by helping to form
new relationships.
Next Sunday the service of
Holy Communion will be
celebrated at 9:45 a.m. The
Sunday School will meet after the
second hymn.

Yacht aground
at GB harbor
A 43-foot yacht was aground
on a Grand Bend sandbar for 18
hours over the Labor Day
weekend.
Dr. Richard Burg,
Birmingham, Michigan,
attempted to enter the harbor at
4:00 p.m. Saturday after two of
his passengers began to feel sick.
The boat was grounded on the
north side of 'the main pier and
was lashed by high waves,
Hundreds of volunteers,
including commercial fishermen,
pleasure boaters and swimmers
attempted to free the boat, which
had a seven-foot raft.
A tug from Goderich finally
worked it free about 10:00 a.m.
Sunday.
The only apparent damage to
the $60,000 boat was a bent
rudder shaft.
