Mrs. Willi Janzen, Leamington,
Margaret Haist was the guest
soloist and was accompanied by
Mrs. Lawrence Amos who also
provided the wedding music.
The bride was given in
marriage by her elder brother,
Eric Finkbeiner, and wore a floor
length gown of peau de soie over
taffeta with elbow length sleeves
and eyelet embroidery trim at the
empire waistline and neckline. A
long train of the same material
and a waist length veil completed
her ensemble. She carried an airy
bouquet of pink roses,
stephanotis and ivy.
The maid of honour was Gwen
Finkbeiner, sister of the bride,
while Ella Mae Schlenker and two
other sisters, Mrs. Gerry
Van deworp, and Debra
Finkbeiner were the bridesmaids.
They were all gowned in mint
green, floor length dresses of
Victorian style with empire
waistlines, puff sleeves and stand
up collars. Their bouquets were
nosegays of pink variegated
carnations and green ribbons and
they wore ivy in their hair.
Laurie Dick, the flower girl,
was charming in a floor length
white dress with high waist line
and puff sleeves and she carried a
nosegay of pink roses and baby's
breath,
Jim Nurse, Toronto, was best
man while John Wiebe, St.
Catharines, and Brian Finkbeiner
ushered.
After a reception in the church
parlours, the newlyweds left for a
wedding trip through Ontario,
the bride wearing a dress of deep
purple with black accessories.
They will reside in Windsor
where Mrs. Janzen, a graduate of
Waterloo Lutheran University
and Althouse College will be a
librarian in the Dr. H. D. Taylor
Public School. Mr. Janzen, a
chemical engineer and a graduate
of University of Windsor, is
employed by Allied Chemicals,
Amherstburg.

Desjardine, at Grand Bend United
Church with Rev. H. Dobson
officiating.
The bride was escorted into
the church, which was decorated
with baskets of flowers, by her
father. She wore a floor length
gown of white lagoda, styled with
simplicity and elegance, trimmed
with Chantilly lace, and seed
pearls. The A-line skirt was
complimented by a detachable
chapel-length train trimmed with
lace. She carried a bouquet of
pale pink roses,
Mrs. Jean Weigand, Mitchell,
was the matron of honor, while
Margaret and Sandra Thompson
were bridesmaids and Barbara
Fenwick was flower girl. Their
outfits addeda contemporary note
and were mauve and purple crepe
floor•length pant dresses with
white Swiss guipure lace trim and
green and mauve appliques.
Jack Caldwell provided the
wedding music and accompanied
the soloist, Jane Fenwick of
Ilderton.
Stanley Desjardine, Waterford
was best man, and the guests were
ushered by Andrew Fenwick and
Morley Desjardine.
After the reception in the
church parlors, the couple left for
a honeymoon in Quebec, the
bride wearing a navy shantastik
dress of coin dot topped by a
• sleeveless long torso jacket with
pleated skirt. Mr. & Mrs.
Desjardine have taken up
residence at RR 1 Grand Bend.

Mrs. Brintnell are now residing at
176 Sanders Street, Exeter.

at flower show
The Kirkton Horticultural
Society held its annual flower
show August 18, in Russeldale
Hall. Miss Luella Johnston of
London judged the flowers in the
afternoon. There were 231
entries placed by 26 exhibitors
and eight entries placed by four
junior exhibitors.
Special prizes were given for
the three top point winners. Mrs.
Tom Hem won first with 84
points; Mrs. Norman Brock,
second with 64; and Mrs. Ellis
Strah an third with 61 points.
Miss Jean Copeland was
master of ceremonies for the
evening program which was
attended by a large crowd.
Those who contributed to the
entertainment were Rosemarie
and Joyce Webber who played a
guitar and accordion duet; Debbie
Cameron who gave a
demonstration with her baton.
Nancy Hem sang a solo and Gary
Urquhart played a selection on
his guitar. Mrs. Gerald Carey gave
a reading and Burns Blackler and
Bob Robinson presented a
musical selection.
Mrs. Fred Switzer introduced
the speakers for the evening,
Frank Leslie and Percy Kendrick,
of Stratford, who spoke on and
showed pictures taken of the
Horticultural Tour of Britian in
May. They were thanked by Mrs.
James MacDougald.
Comments made by Mrs.
Johnston as to what she looks for
when judging, were given by Mrs.
Russell Morrison.
Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Hall,
Ottawa, former residents of
Andrew St., Exeter, called on
Mrs. William Thomson and other
Mr. & Mrs. Andy Dougall Jr,
and family spent a few days
camping at Kincardine last week
and had as their weekend guests,
Mrs. & Mrs. Keith Madge,
Thorndale, and Mr. & Mrs. Basil
Crawford and Darla.

with Peter Deane over the
