Mothers and Tots skating will be Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 to 2. Bantam houseleague on Monday 22nd from 7 to 8 instead of Saturday the 20th. No public skating this Saturday from 3 to 5 to facilitate figure skating tests. Take special note of the minor hockey schedule and Arena Activities as they cover a period of about three weeks. I am sorry that gymnastics last week and next had to be cancelled but we will continue later in the spring to make up for lost time. Nine goals were scored in squirt hockey this week. Three were fired by Dave Robinson while Paul Gaiser got two and the singles were tallied up by Doug Hoffman, Preston Dearing, Chris Mittleholtz and Doug Fletcher. In novice hockey this week, Boston defeated the North Stars 7 to 2. For Boston, Brian Horrell and Brian Mercer scored hat tricks, Brad Taylor added a single goal. Steven Baynham and Alan Jensen got the only goals for the North Stars. In the other game Montreal defeated St. Louis 1 to 0. Norm McAuley raced down the left wing to a few feet inside the St. Louis blueline and a blazing shot picked the far corner for the only goal of the game. In the first pee wee game Detroit defeated the Blues 6 to 4. Detroit goals were scored by Brad Roelofson with two and singles were scnred by Larry Johns, Kevin Flaro, Greg Beattie and Steven Willert. For the Blues Matthew Muller scored two, the singles were scored by Dan and Randy Regier. In the seconl game the Panthers defeated the Seals 5 to 2. Wally Fydenchuk scored a hat trick for the Panthers, Ted Thorne and Jim Gregus helped with singles, The Seal goals were scored by Brian Penhale and Mike Higgins, In bantam houseleague the Slow Motions defeated the Punchers 8 to 2. Slow Motions goals were scored by Brian Taylor with four; Robert Ryckman with three and a single from the stick of Gerald Van Oesch. Perry Stover was the only player able to score on the Slow Motion's goalie. The jets were victorious by a 9.3 count in Acton, Friday and blanked the same Acton club 16-0 at the Huron Park arena, Tuesday night. Next action for the Jets will be Sunday when they travel to Durham to take on the Huskies in a two o'clock contest. Tuesday night, the L-1 club will be home at the Huron Park arena at 8;30 in a pre-Christmas battle with the Elmira Polar Kings. WILD SCORING The jets scored almost at will DAVE WEBSTER ... scores five in every period in chalking up the 16-0 win, Tuesday. Dave Webster was the Jets leading scorer, counting two goals in the first period and coming back with three more in the second to complete his five goal total for the night. The league's leading scorer Jamie Robb counted two goals along with Jack Nairn and Barry Hearn. Completing the scoring with goals in single fashion were Dusty Aldis, Jacques Cousineau, Steve Proctor, Ken Loft and Jim Bender. Wayne Parkinson was in the L-I nets to record his first shut-out of the season. Robb now has 18 goals and 20 assists to lead the league with 38 points. DOUBLE SCORERS The only two goal scorers for the Jets in Acton, Friday completed their scoring in the first period to give their club a 4.1 lead after the first twenty minutes of play, Jack Nairn scored the first goal at 2.47 with the assist going to Dusty Aldis and nabbed his second near the end of the period on a power play effort with Ken Loft and Larry Hossack. Barry Hearn fired his two markers in less than three minutes near the midway mark. Nairn was in on both scoring plays while Aldis helped on the first. Bruce McDuffe scored for the only Acton counter of the first period. The Jets dominated in the middle frame with Ken Loft, Jacques Cousineau and Dusty Aldis hitting the mark with successful shots. The first four minutes of play in the third period completed the L-I scoring for the night with Rick Bradford hitting the net with a slap shot and Doug Galloway duplicating the feat with a shot along the ice. Both shots were fired from near the blue-line. Jan Riddall and Gord Bell scored later in the period for the Acton club. Another tie for Ausable Last week's tie for first place in the Ausable Valley hockey league has been broken but now a deadlock exists for second spot. Ailsa Craig trimmed Lieury 15.3, Sunday to move into undisputed possession of first place with a ten-point record. Brinsley and Shipka are tied for the runner-up spot with eight points apiece and Lieury completes the four-team league with two points. In Monday's action, Shipka downed Brinsley by a score of 8-3. This week Brinsley and Ailsa Craig meet in Sunday action while Lieury and Shipka tangle Monday night. EEDY IS TOPS Charlie Eedy scored on four occasions to lead the Ailsa Craig club to their 15-3 win over Lieury. Close behind with three goals each were John Schenkel and Don McAlpine. Two goal scorers were Dave Collins and Brent Gillis while Gwen Griffiths scored a single counter. Harvey Vincent scored three times to lead the Shipka scoring in the 7-5 win over Brinsley, Monday. Bob Finkbeiner checked in with a pair of scores and Jim Dietrich and Rene Boogemans added singles. Stire 647) MORE SPORTS ON PAGE 13 A large group of skaters from the Exeter and Listowel Figure Skating club will be trying tests Saturday at the Exeter arena under the watchful eye of judges appointed by the Canadian • Figure Skating Association. Junior members of the two clubs will be trying their preliminary first figures, preliminary dances and junior bronze dances. The judges will be Miss Mary Burden and David Rowe, both • of London. Similar tests for more advanced senior skaters is scheduled for the Listowel arena for January 16 and six Exeter girls are expected to be in action. The boys and girls pay • registration fees involved with the tests to the Canadian Figure Skating Association. The annual skating carnival sponsored by the local club is scheduled for the Exeter arena, Saturday, February 21. • Only one change in ladies curling Only one major change took place in the standings of the'first draw of the Exeter ladies' curling club during the past week. In Tuesday action, Edna Busche and her rink upped their season total to 55 to take a four-point edge over a foursome headed by Ellen Knight that have held first place most of the way.
