LADIES' AID The April meeting of Zion Lutheran Ladies' Aid was in charge of group 2 and Mrs. Ernest Koehler convener. Mrs. Lorne Genttner presided for the business. By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE The annual thankoffering meeting of the UCW was held Thursday evening with 40 in attendance. Mrs. Jack Duncan and Mrs. Carl Hume were the hostesses. Mrs. William Rohde opened the meeting with a verse on Easter. Roll call and minutes and several cards of thanks were read. A treasurer's report was given. It was decided to have a strawberry supper June 24 with the proceeds being given to the church. Miss Darlene Passmore favored with several numbers on the accordion. Mrs. Floyd Stewart welcomed all those present and opened the worship service with the call to worship on "Loving Goodwill," presenting Bryan Hogg with his trophy as skip of the championship men's team. The Altar Guild is Mrs. Oscar Miller and Mrs. Alvin Rader. Steve Brierly of the London Rescue Mission showed the film "The Big R" followed by discussion, A donation was made to the mission. Lunch was served by the group. CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY About 200 guests helped Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Keller celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary Saturday evening in the Community Centre. Those present included the families of both Mr. and Mrs. Keller, as well as many friends and neighbors. Dancing and a smorgasbord rounded out the evening. and the meditation and prayer. Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne read ' the scripture lesson. Mrs. William Rohde read an "Easter Thanksgiving." Mrs. Stewart closed in prayer. Mrs. Edwin Miller introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Art Whilsmith of Exeter who spoke "On Renewal of Spring." Mrs. Miner thanked Mrs. Whilsmith and presented 'her with a gift. Group 2 served lunch and a social time was had by all. HOOPER Miss Vinni Thornbury of Stratford spent Monday with Mrs. Lloyd Thompson. A bridal shower was held Monday evening in Mt. Carrnel gym for Miss Marlene Dietrich, bride-elect of April 19th. Misses Heather Trainor, Laurie Arnold and Pauline Regan sang. A tap-dance by Jane Sullivan and a duet by Miss Rita and Mary Theresa McCann accompanied by their mother Mrs. Arnold McCann and a piano selection by Colleen Breen gave a good program for the occasion. Mrs. John Moser read the address and neighbours helped to arrange the shower. Miss Lynda Dietrich assisted her sister in opening gifts, The bride thanked everyone and a delicious lunch was served. Mr. & Mrs. Nick Jeromkin and family spent the weekend in Toronto visiting relatives. Mr. & Mrs. Paul Hajas received word of the death of the latter's mother in Winnipeg. They left by car at once Saturday to attend the funeral in that city. Miss Rhilla Regier R.N.A. of St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Miss Angela Regier nurse-in-training at Byron and Miss Anne Regier nurse-in-training at St. Joseph's Hospital, London visited their parents, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Regier. Mrs. Josephine Regier Strathroy spent the weekend visiting in the community and with her sister Mr. & Mrs. Carl Theander. Mr. & Mrs. Peter Eckert, Kitchener, visited with Mr. & Mrs. Charles Dietrich and family. Mrs. Catherine Morrissey visited over the weekend with Monsignor Corcoran and Miss gym Geraldine Harness in Stratford, Mrs. Alexine Dietrich is a patient in St. Joseph's Ilospital, London. Used Car Bargains By MRS, IRVIN RADER The theme of the United Church Women of Calvary church for April was China and Mrs. Syd Baker, chairlady opened the meeting with a reading. Mrs. Ken McCrae was pianist. Mrs. Harold Kellerman read the scripture and Mrs. Bruce Guy a meditation, "I believe in loving Godwill." Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan led in prayer. A solo was sung by Mrs. Robert Hoffman. Mrs. Guy introduced the film strip on China, "Contrast and Continuities," This was accompanied on record with authentic sounds. After the film a discussion period was held. Everyone joined in to sing "A Song of Praise" similar to the songs sung by the Chinese people in Peking. The May meeting is to be a mother and daughter pot luck supper with Mrs. Harry Hoffman's group in charge. A strawberry social date is to be decided in the near future. CELEBRATE BIRTHDAY Over 50 members of the Rader family gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Rader Sunday on the occasion of Mr. Rader's 50th birthday. Guests were present from Waterloo, London, Zurich, Zion, Stratford, Crediton and Dashwood. Lloyd Rader read an address and Irvin Rader presented Elgin with a travel alarm on behalf of the family. Everyone enjoyed a supper which included birthday cake and ice cream. CELEBRATE BIRTHDAY To mark the occasion of Mrs. Bert ha Hayter's birthday Saturday, a dinner was held in her honor at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich.
