"They laughed when I drove up in my Volkswagen convertible: A lot of people think the Volkswagen convertible is the funniest thing to come along since the Volkswagen. Which is why we can't guarantee that this sort of thing won't happen if you come along in one. But while they're laughing on the out- side, you're laughing ©n the inside: a VW will breeze along for 32 miles on a single gallon of gas. It hardly ever needs oil. And repairs cost little. Me don't think big repair bills are funny at all.) What's more, it has a handmade top that's padded with 2" of foam rubber to keep heat in and cold out. But, lust because underneath it all the Volkswagen convertible is still just a Volkswagen, don't get the idea you won't get as much of a thrill out of driving it as you would a big convertible. In fact, given a good stretch of open highway and maybe a bit of a tailwind, you could even zip past one of those big fancy jobs, And what could be more thrilling than that? There are over 280 VW dealers across Canada. The one nearest you is in the Yellow Pogo. .0 • UCW planning Centennial celebration By MRS.
