UCW China Study by his talk
and excellent pictures. He gave
an accurate portrayal of life as it
was and now is in China.
Mrs. Edison McLean thanked
the guest speaker and soloist and
all those preparing and taking
part in the meeting.
The hostesses, Mrs. Harold
Jones and Mrs. Ross Broadfoot,
had charge of arrangements. Mrs.
John Cooper and Mrs. Alex
McMurtrie ushered the guests.
Refreshments were prepared
and served by the Social
Committee assisted by the other
units.

returned from a visit with Miss
Sharon McBride, Sault St. Marie.
They flew there and back.
Mrs. Long spent Easter week
with her brother and

brother escorted her home and is
spending a few days.

Rider injured
when horse hit
Susan Luther, 12, sustained a
fractured pelvis and bruises
during the weekend when she
was thrown from the horse she
was riding.
A Grade 8 student at Hensall
Public School, Susan was turning
the animal into a lane at the
farm of Harold Elder, RR 2
Hensall, when a car driven by
Brian Fields, 16, RR 2 Hensall,
struck the horse. It had to be
destroyed following the
incident.
Susan, the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Eric Luther, is resting
comfortably in South Huron
Hospital. She is expected to be
there for several weeks.
Kinettes visit
Ontario hospital
Hensall Kinettes met April 9
at the home of Mrs. Robt
Caldwell for their April meeting.
Reports were given on the
shut-in visits and the visit to
Ontario Hospital, Goderich, to
entertain residents.
Plans were made for the
Spring rummage sale to be held
Friday evening, May 2.
A donation was given to the
local firemen for the fireworks
display in May.

At a dance held at Hensall
Arena Friday evening, sponsored
by the Hensall Minor Athletic
Association, two draws were
made.

electronics teacher at Central
Huron Secondary School,
Clinton; Kroehler hostess chair,
Mrs. Ron Wareing, Hensall.

and visitors day Tuesday
evening, April 8.

and friends were welcomed by
the president, Mrs. Robert Elgie.
Mrs. John Sinclair and Mrs.
Arie Binnendyk presented the
special worship service.

at Chiselhurst
President Mrs. Thos. Brintnell,
Chiselhurst United Church
Women, opened the April
meeting with "The Easter
Miracle."
Mrs. William Brintnell had
charge of the devotion worship
with the theme "Our Christian
Task," followed by the
missionary prayer.
Miss Ruth Ann Coleman
spoke on the Toc Alpha Youth
Conference she attended at
Niagara Falls in December. The
theme for the conference was
"It's a Strange Strange World,,
Master Jack."
Mrs. Alf Ross Sr. played a
medley of selections on the
organ.
Monday afternoon of last
week the ladies entertained the
residents of the Blue Water Rest
Home, Zurich, for the monthly
birthday party and presented a
program which the residents
enjoyed.

The regular meeting of St.
Paul's A.C.W. was held Thursday
with nine members present.
Mrs. Annie Reid, president,
read devotions and prayers.
Current business was handled.
Mrs. Mary Taylor and Mrs.
Kay Scrabuik will represent St.
Paul's A.C.W. at the second
annual meeting of the A.C.W.
Diocese of Huron, in London
April 21.
Members had studied "Ruth"
for the study session and Rev. G.
Anderson presented an
interesting talk on this subject.

At a brief meeting of the
Ladies Aid of Carmel
Presbyterian Church following
the meeting of the W.M.S.
Monday evening, chaired by
president Mrs. Harvey Hyde,
members were asked to bring a
wrapped article valued at $1 to
the May meeting for a mystery
sale.

A large 5' by 5' square plate
glass window , in he Bank of
Montreal, Hensall, on King
Street was broken over the
weekend when someone threw a
beer bottle against it.
The incident is under
investigation.
