Easter lilies, baskets of snapdragons, carnations and mums and candelabra formed the background for the marriage performed by Rev. Stuart Miner, Miss Agnes Bray, organist, accompanied the soloist, Miss Ruth Haynes, Fullerton. Escorted by her father, the bride chose a floor-length gown of lagoda crepe fashioned with a scoop neckline. Pearled chantilly lace outlined the empire look and trimmed the elbow-length sleeves. Her lace edged detachable train topped with a bow swept to chapel-length complimenting the A-line skirt. A floral cluster held her four-tiered pearled scalloped French illusion facer veil in place. She carried a nosegay of pink roses and white mums, Maid of honor was Miss Janis Duncan, Stratford. Bridesmaid was Miss Doris Mills, Woodham, and junior bridesmaid was Miss Sheila Duncan, Kirkton. They were gowned alike in blush pink floor-length chiffon gowns styled with chantilly lace yolks and cap sleeves. They wore matching bows and short veils and carried nosegays of pink roses and white mums. Best man was Dennis Richardson, St. Marys. Ushers were Don Oliver, St. Marys and Dennis Duncan, Kirkton. For a wedding trip to Kingston and points east, the bride changed to a coat and dress ensemble of kelly green wool, yellow and black patent accessories and a white orchid corsage. Nelleft A honeymoon in Bermuda followed the wedding April 5 of Elsie Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everard Miller, Grand Bend, and LeRoy Keyes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keyes, Grand Bend, in Zion United Church, Usborne Township. Easter lilies, green ferns and yellow tapers in candelabra formed the background for the marriage performed by Rev. R.V. Wilson, Exeter, and Rev. G.E. Morrow, Grand Bend. Music was supplied by the organist, Miss Evelyn Curts, RR 3 Parkhill, and the soloist, Robert Hem, RR 1 Woodham. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a floor-length gown of wedding white lagoda. The A-line skirt was highlighted by a detachable chapel train which cascaded from a bow at the back neckline and by two panels of chantilly lace falling from waist to hem. The gown featured chantilly lace outlining the sleeves and the train. Her headpiece was a crown of pearl and crystal on a four-tier illusion veil and she carried a cascade of five Easter lilies, one bud and yellow daisies. Bridal attendants were Miss Norma Weigand, RR 1 Dashwood; Miss Patricia Parker, RR 1 Hensall; and Miss Elaine Johns, RR 3 Exeter. They wore floor-length dresses of mint green peau de charm with bell sleeves, empire waistlines and trains held by five roses of matching material, falling from the waists. They wore matching rose headpieces and carried gathering baskets of yellow daisies, pink carnations and purple statius. Flowergirl Miss Brenda Miller, AR 1 Granton, wore a street-length dress of white embossed cotton with mint green ribbon around the waist, a matching green ribbon in her hair and a gathering basket of yellow daisies, pink carnations and purple statius, Best man was Bill Parker, London. Ushers were Jack Keyes, brother of the groom, London, and Earl Miller, brother of the bride, Woodham, Master Ted Keyes, London, was the ringbearer, The wedding reception was held at Zion United Church. For receiving her guests, the bride's mother wore a green and blue jacket dress of imported brocade and a white pill box hat with black trim. She was assisted by the groom's mother in a navy shantung coat and dress ensemble and a hat of navy blue balli buntle straw. Hick, Glencoe, performed the marriage amid candelabra, fern and baskets of pink gladioli and mauve mums. Organist Douglas Lewis accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Harry Bond, Clandeboye. On the arm of her father, the bride wore a white floor-length fitted French crepe gown styled with a high neckline and long sleeves. It featured heavy lace inserts at the wrists and the collar and a full-length train. A velvet and heavy lace bow held her four-tiered shoulder-length veil in place and she carried pink roses, white and mauve carnations and trailing ivy. Bridesmaids Miss Joanne Mills, London, and Miss Trinidad man UCW guest A general meeting of the afternoon and evening units of the Main Street Church UCW was held in the basement of the church last Monday evening. Mrs. Earl Russell presided for the opening service and the business. Mrs. Peter Raymond was in charge of the program assisted by Mrs. Ron Bogart and Mrs. Tom Arthur. The junior choir favored the meeting with two selections accompanied by Mrs. McCaffrey. Mrs. Raymond introduced Mr. Williams of Hensall, formerly of Trinidad who spoke on the climate, population etc. of his country. He did not care to live in US on account of racial differences but chose Canada instead for the welfare of his family. He was thanked by Mrs. Ross Tuckey for speaking to the women. Mrs. McCaffrey favored with a solo and a lovely smorgasborg lunch was served by the afternoon unit. CONTEST WINNER—Linda l3lommaert, RR 5 Brampton, won a trip to Ottawa following a Mississagua Hydro Public Speaking contest. The Parkhill Community Centre was the scene of the wedding reception where guests were greeted by the bride's mother in a dark turquoise outfit, matching hat and a gardenia corsage and the groom's sister, Mrs. David Thompson, Brockville, wearing a two-piece off-white dress, pale blue flowered hat and a corsage of pink carnations. For travelling to the South Western USA, the bride donned a lime green jacket and dress ensemble of fine wool, a brown straw fedora hat, brown accessories and a corsage of gardenia and stephanotis. The bride is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario Visitors at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Whitney Coates over the weekend were their daughter, Mrs. R. Doherty, Mr. Doherty, Debbie and Richie, Mt. Clemens, Mich. Mr. & Mrs. Doherty attended a reunion of the London Life Ins. Co. where Mrs. Doherty had worked. Henry Lunshof. The bride is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs. George Poortinga, RR 1 Kirkton, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry de Weerd, Guelph. For her candelit wedding, the bride chose a floor-length gown of white crepe taffeta trimmed with daisies. She wore a net turban embroidered with daisies and carried a white Bible crested with red roses and white streamers. Her matron of honor, Mrs. John Van Soest, sister of the bride, RR 2 Moorefield, had selected a floor-length gown of yellow taffeta with an embroidered empire waistline and a chiffon overskirt. She wore orange roses in her hair and carried orange roses and ivy on a yellow muff. John Van Soest Jr., RR 2 Moorefield, was best man. Ushers were Hank Poortinga, RR 1 Kirkton, and Ralph de Weerd, Guelph. Ringbearer was Johnny Van Soest, nephew of the bride, RR 2 Moorefield. A buffet reception followed in the church rooms. It was announced that the general meeting would be held Monday, April 21 and that the annual visitation of shut-ins would take place Sunday, April 27. Pat Down was in charge of the program with the theme "Communication with one another." The worship was taken by Elaine Skinner, Lena Kirkland and Peggy Campbell. Clarence Down showed slides from his visit to Hong Kong which were very much enjoyed, especially since the study is on China this year. Pat Down also reviewed some of the culture of China and history of China, mentioning the different religious beliefs. Meeting closed with lunch and a social hour spent.
