Mr. Carson closed the meeting with prayer, and a social half-hour was enjoyed, the hostess and her assistants providing lunch, The May meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Gladys Atkinson. C.E. WORKSHOP A Christian Education workshop meeting was held at Lucan United Church last Saturday. Rev. 5, F. Fuller, chairmen of the Christian Education Committee of Middlesex Presbytery, was in charge, assisted by members of his staff, Rev. G. Paul Cumming, Rev. W. T. Wells and Rev. W. C. Tupling were also in attendance. Mrs. Pat Barrie, Wesley, Mrs. Janet Cook, Dun das Centre, Mrs. Jean Steffen, Dorchester, and Douglas MacGregor, Mount Zion United Church, led the discussion groups. Among churches represented by Sunday School Superintendents, teachers and leaders of youth groups were Birr, Lieury, Carlisle, Brinsley, Parkhill, Ailsa Craig, Clandeboye and Lucan. This workshop was found to be helpful and it is hoped to arrange another similar workshop in September. The April general meeting of the South Huron & District Association for the Mentally Retarded has been CANCELLED due to the annual meeting and conference of the Ontario Ass'n in Toronto scheduled to be held on the same date. Rev. W. C. Tupling was in charge, and his sermon was entitled "The Substitute". At the conclusion of the service, the Lucan congregation were asked to remain for a while. The organ committee reported their findings and Mr. 'Piloting presented the prices and qualities of the various offers. John Bright, then, spoke on what he could do to provide a pipe organ for the Church, A decisive vote was hoped for, but it was agreed to obtain another recommendation before proceeding. This should be obtained in two weeks when another meeting will be called. Members of the Hi C of Lucan United Church were invited to Ailsa Craig for Sunrise service Easter Sunday, ACW The regular meeting of the ACW was held at the home of the President, Mrs. Jack Murdy with 11 members and one guest present. Mrs. Murdy led the worship service, followed by a reading, "Whispering Hope," an article on Easter and Spring. This theme was extended by a talk by Mrs. Harold Hodgins on Easter and hope. It was reported that an Easter greeting card, with a letter, had been sent to the new prayer partner, Capt. D. Brown, Saskatchewan. CLIFTON H. LAPGLEY Clifton H. Langley, 79, passed away March 31 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Funeral service was Thursday in Detroit with interment in Acacia Park Cemetery. Mr. Langley, a summer resident of Grand Bend for about 30 years, was a special assignment worker for the Rockwell-Standard Co. He was active in the Grand Bend United Church during the summer and participated in many Masonic undertakings in the Grand Bend area. He was an avid stamp and coin collector. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles and Harold; three daughters, Mrs. Dean Tait, Mrs. George Owens and Mrs. Lowell Norred; two sisters; four brothers; ,and eight grandchildren. MRS. JOHN R. DRAKE Mrs. John R. Drake, 92, Staffa, passed away Thursday in Seaforth Community Hospital. She was the former Charlotte Ann Norris. Survivors include one son, John, Staffa; three daughters, Mrs. Peter (Verna) Pigeon, Galt; Mrs. James (Marvin) McKellar, Staffa; and Mrs. Thomas (Zoe) Kay, London; two brothers, Hugh of Chiselhurst and William of Detroit; and one sister, Mrs. Lou (Rebecca) Kiel, Vancouver. Funeral service was Monday from the Heath-Leslie Funeral Home, Mitchell, with interment in Staffa Cemetery.
