TEMPLEMAN STAFFA For the March 26 meeting of the Staffa Women's Institute, the members held an all day quilting and pot-luck dinner in the Township Hall. During the day four quilts were quilted for the War Memorial Hospital at London. In the afternoon Mrs. Lloyd Miller presided for the meeting. There were 17 members and two visitors present. The roll call Dinner guests Wednesday and Thursday with Mr. & Mrs. Percy Hodgins were Mr. & Mrs. Mervin Baker, Mr. & Mrs. Clare Bryan, Mr. & Mrs. Norman Hodgins and Mr. & Mrs. Harold Wallis. Mrs. Norman Hodgins was a Saturday visitor with Mrs. E. Squire, Granton. Mr. & Mrs. Wm Morley and family and Mrs. Mary French were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Art Hodgins, Clandeboye. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Johnson and family and Jim Bettridge, St. Marys, were Saturday dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Ivan Johnson, Ilderton. Mrs. Mary French and Mrs. Wm Morley attended a miscellaneous bridal shower Wednesday evening at Zion United Church in honor of Miss Elsie Miller, Grand Bend, bride-to-be of Saturday. Mr. & Mrs. Cleve Pullman visited Saturday with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Quast, Mitchell. EUCHRE A community euchre was held Friday evening at the Community Centre with Mrs. Mary French in charge, Five tables were at play. Prizes went to ladies high, Neighbouring clubs from Parkhill, Clinton and Goderich swelled the attendance to nearly 50 at the Mary Hastings Pot Luck Supper in Shipka Community Centre March 25. New President Mrs. Harold Finkbeiner welcotned everyone, It was decided to send the president and secretary treasurer to the annual spring banquet May 2 in London using club funds to finance their trip. Two cards were signed and sent to two members, Mrs. Percy Noels, Goderich Hospital and Mrs. Joe Finkbeiner in South Huron Hospital. The secretary will receive $5 for services rendered, Mrs. Ruth Greb will be the new vice-president and to choose her own secretary- treasurer. The annual picnic will be in Dashwood August 3. Mrs. Mamie Sutcliffe, Goderich, volunteered to auction off the leftovers and the club realized $2.80. Tables were arranged for the euchre with prizes going to Mrs. Frank Cummings, Clinton for the high score; low, Mrs. Mabel Desjardine; lone hands, Mrs. Laura Miller; hidden score, Mrs. Myrtle Good, Goderich; hidden score, Mrs. Mary Robertson, Clinton; oldest housewife, Mrs. Graham, Parkhill, (80); lucky chair, Mrs, Esther Kendall, Goderich; winner of grocery box, Mrs. Marie Dinney, Crediton. PERSONALS Karen Ruth Kennedy of Ilderton spent some holidays with her aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Sheppard. DINNER OUTING The annual dinner and outing of Court Valentine Lady Foresters Lodge, Granton, was Thursday evening. Dinner was served to them by Wesley ladies at Wesley Church. Following dinner they journeyed to Lucan to a bowling party. In the evening relatives and friends gathered at their home to extend congratulations and enjoy a social time together. Mr. & Mrs. David Wheeler attended the christening of Jeffrey Corsaut in Birr United Church, Sunday and were guests following with Mr. & Mrs. Douglas Corsaut and Jeffrey of London, Church, May 20, Mrs. Ed. Chappel is the delegate to the Guelph Conference. Mrs. Roy McDonald had charge of a contest. The meeting closed with a dainty lunch served by the hostesses Mrs. Walter O'Brien and Mrs. Garnet Taylor. EUCHRE Staffa Women's Institute sponsored a progressive euchre party in Staffa Hall, Friday evening. Circle III was in charge of the evening with eight tables in play. Funeral service for Wm. B. Willert was held Thursday, March 27 from the T. Harry Hoffman funeral home, Pallbearers were Orno Rattan, William Woodburn, Morley Eagleson, John and Jim (Jr.) Hayter, and Peter Kleinstiver. William C. Hey, $4, passed away at his late residence Sunday, March 30. He had been in failing health for some time. He is survived by his wife the former Theo J. Hartleib and several neices and nephews, The body rested at the T, Harry Hoffman funeral home where service was held Wednesday, April 2 with Rev. E. E. Steinman in charge. Interment was made in Exeter cemetery, Pallbearers were Vernon Schatz, Ivan Grigg, Ron Merrier, Harry Hartleib, John Neerburg and Mervyn Tiernan.
