With SHIRLEY J. KELLER
I've been strolling through the
stores looking for clues as to
what women will be wearing this
Easter Sunday morning and
there is so much variety, it is
difficult to predict with any
certainty a trend.
All colors are selling well. At
May's shoppers are asking for
navy, lavender and yellow in
preference to other colors. At
Boyle's the most popular colors
have been navy, apricot and
green. Gould and Jory sales
people report mauve, navy,
yellow and bright pink are good
choices.
Suits are good sellers any time
of the year, but this year at
May's more and more ladies have
been selecting dresses
(particularly those wonderful
crimp knit fashions) and
all-weather coats. I learned that
very few wool coats are sold for
spring because all-weather coats
are available in such a variety of
colors, fabrics and styles at a
pleasing price.
At Boyle's, jacket dresses of
fortrel have been in demand as
well as suits while •Gould and
Jory find coat and dress
ensembles have been moving
well.
Mini-dresses are still in vogue
for the young set who also like
the versatile pant suits which
feature a mini-dress over a pair
of city pants. Really two outfits
in one!
And city pants are very big
this season in Exeter as opposed
to elephant pants with the huge
fantastically-flared legs! City
pants feature gently flared
bottoms and can be purchased
this year in all kinds of
materials, even denims which are
striped, flowered or plain.
Little hats have sold well at
Boyle's but big ones are still
good with women who love hats
and wear them with confidence.
The bows and feathers on combs
which can be worn almost
any place on the head and to any
function you can name, are
reasonable in price and give a
whale of a lot of fashion, too.
At Gould and Jory where
there is a fairly complete
children's wear department,
vinyl has been the biggest rage,
perhaps because mother can
simply wipe away the spills and
accidents.
There are vinyl pram suits for
attended the wedding and were
present at the anniversary
dinner.
Following their marriage Mr.
tY4 Mrs. McKellar farmed on
Concession 11, Bibbed
Township. They moved to
Cromarty village in 1965.
The couple have one
daughter, Mts. Bill (Betty)
Binning, Mitchell, and three
grandchildren,
Through the years, Mr. and
Mrs. McKellar have been active
in community affairs.
Mrs. McKellar is the T-A
Cromarty news correspondent.
Mr. McKellar is an avid hockey
fan.
Many lovely gifts, flowers and
cards of congratulations were
received,
An open house was held
Wednesday in honor of Mr, and
Mrs. McKellar at the home of
their daughter and son-in-law.
Over 100 friends and relatives
called during the afternoon and
evening.
In charge of the guest book
was Miss Jane Binning.
the very young and vinyl coats,
capes and suits for the young
fashionable miss.
Are capes as stylish this spring
as your daughter would have
you believe? Apparently. Gould
and Jory salesgirls report the
youngsters have been asking for
capes — and for elephant pants
(for which most mothers have
very little liking).
For children, bright pink,
green (lots of green) orange and
navy have been selling well.

This is Monday and the
weather really isn't too
"springy" today. It is too cold
to be pleasant.
But this is also March 31 and
we can expect almost anything
today, especially when this
month "came in" so nicely. I
think I predicted something
nasty for the end of March.
However, when Easter Sunday
rolls round it will be April 6 and
the weather could be greatly
improved by then. I heard
someone say earlier today that
there is a warming trend on the
way. Maybe by Sunday it will be
here. Let's hope so,
In the meantime, the weather
won't make much difference to
your plans for your Easter
dinner. Depending once more on
your family's tastes, you may
want to vary your menu a little
bit for this Easter.
Maybe you would like to
serve:

Mrs. Arnold Lindenfield
opened the Easter meeting of

Following the business, Mrs.

guests Rev, and Mrs. Howard
Zurbrigg from Zion United
Church in Crediton.
Rev, Zurbrigg conducted the
Agape service and feast.
Agape is the Greek word for
"love," The feast was a
communal meal among the early
Christians combined with the
celebration of the Lord's
Supper.
Mrs. Zurbrigg sang a solo and
Holy Communion was served.
The feast consisted of fruits

Zurbrigg entered bearing a light,
reminiscent of how the early
Christians carried a candle into
their secret places of worship.
Upon entering the hall for the
Agape, each person passed the
bearers of water who poured
water over the members' hands
in ceremonial washing. Members
then took their places at the
table.
Others who took part in the
service and read the exhortations
were Mrs. Grace Elsie, Mrs.
Gerald Godbolt, Mrs. Fred
