The Hawks were able to win all three games of the best-of-seven series played in Exeter but were unable to put up much of a show in the Waterloo County town, losing to the Hahns by a 7-0 count in the deciding game, Saturday night. The Exeter losing streak in New Hamburg has now reached eight consecutive games. Two years ago in a similar series, the Hawks were unable to win away from home. On the other side of the ledger, the Hahns have had similar luck on Exeter ice, failing to win in two years, but in each case they have had the deciding game of the series slated for their arena. After losing in New Hamburg by a 7-4 count Wednesday to fall behind 3-2 in games, the Hawks battled back with a thrilling 8-1 win on Exeter ice Friday to force the seventh and deciding contest in New Hamburg, Saturday. In the seventh game, the Hawks suffered one of their worst losses of the year as they failed to put the puck into the New Hamburg net all evening. The last two games of the series drew the largest crowds of the season for both clubs. A crowd of 1,150 was on hand in Exeter, Friday night and slightly more than 1,600 jammed the New Hamburg rink the next night. IN HIGH GEAR The Hawks had their scoring machine in high gear Friday night as they evened the series at three games apiece with a convincing 8-1 victory.
