The Usborne farmer said he bad many years' experience in various -capacities and had always tried to enlighten himself as i.e., changes in education by reading and attending conferences. "We're entering a big system," he explained,. adding he would endeavour to bring 'the best in education and facilities to young people, • "But I won't forget that you are the men who pay the taxes," he concluded. "That's one thing we can't forget." ATTACKS COMMITTEE Stewart explained there would be a "tremendous task" during the first year of the new county board, - predicting it would "level off" after that. A .father of four school children, he said he felt it was desirable for a trustee to have children in school. "It helps keep him abreast of what is going on," he explained. He also said a trustee should have a good education — a university degree or equivalent — to deal with the principals and staff. The Usborne man also said the trustee should be a young person if possible. Stewart told the men in attendance he was ashamed to have been a member of the Huron Interim Committee. He said there was very poor leadership given. the committee and no one seemed to know where they were going. "We were asked to do a job and it hasn't been done," he said, adding he felt badly that he was a part of it. The other nominee, Clarence McDonald was not present for the brief period of speeches. Also nominated was Bev Parsons, presently chairman of the Usborne board. He did not qualify. Ivan Hearn was acclaimed 'Lucan reeve after nominations in that village Monday evening.
