LONDON PHONE 471.9115 On the occasion of the eightieth birthday of Mrs. William Welsh, Exeter, her family gathered to pay tribute at a festive Thanksgiving dinner at the Grosvenor Club, London. • Also honoured for their October birthdays were six other family members, Miss Elizabeth Welsh (sister-in-law), Mrs. Lyle Roberts (daughter), Mrs. R.Y. Marr, Ron Nixon, Paul White and Miss Deborah White (grandchildren). The favourite flower of Mrs. Welsh, the yellow rose bud, was the accent theme for the decorations. Garlands of myrtle were the background to offset two yellow rose bud arrangements with a three-tiered cake accented with yellow rose buds and topped with an 'eighty' fashioned of icing. Each birthday celebrant was presented with a yellow carnation corsage by Mr. and Mrs. Brown Stewart, friends of of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Howe, Livonia, Michigan, Mrs. K.L. Werner, London, and Miss Verna Coates visited Monday at the home of Maurice Quance. Natives of gast Germany, the Gebel's will be taking care of the needs of the area in cabinets, vanities, hook cases, bookshelves, room. dividers and closets. The trim looking 120hy 42 foot cement block building was constructed by M L Construction .of . London. Five full time employees are now working at the Clatideboye plant and Gehel expect4 to double his present .staff within several. months. The staff presently is capable of turning out 150 cabinet units per month and is working at full strength to fill the many .orders that are coming in. The..Gebel'a do. not employ salesmen to take orders, depending solely on • direct orders and the word of satisfied customers. They have been fitting large apartments and town houses in London, Chatham and 'Sarnia. The Clandeboye firm stresses excellent workmanship and does all of its own installation work. While the basic material used in the manufacture of most of the cabinets is birch, vinyl is being used on the cabinet doors. Gebel says the vinyl finish is durable, easy to maintain and never needs refinishing. A showroom has 'been set up in the southern portion of the new building to allow prospective customers an opportunity to inspect the various types of cupboards. Mr. and Mrs. Gebel and two sons, Erwin and Peter are working full time in the cabinet making industry. They also have two daughters, Susan and Marion. Principal speaks to Elimville WI The October meeting of Elimville WI had as its theme "Education and Citizenship". Principal Arnold Mathers, Huron Centennial School, Brucefield, spoke on the, new system of education. The motto was given by Mrs. • Jack Blair and Mrs. Clifton Jaques read a poem. Musical numbers were supplied by Mrs. Ron Fletcher, Mrs. Bev. Parsons, Mrs. Murray Coward, Mrs. Ross Skinner and Mrs. Harold Bell. Prior to the meeting, a pot luck supper for the members and their husbands or friends was enjoyed. 4-H girls choose colors in cotton The fourth meeting of Hurondale No. 3 4—H homemakers' club was held recently at the home of the leader, Mrs. Wayne Tuckey with 14 members present. President Gwen Mills conducted the business. The girls discussed what to look for when buying cottons and how to choose becoming lines and colors to suit themselves. Mrs. Tuckey demonstrated how to insert a zipper. Rick Haveling of Lindsay spent Thanksgiving weekend with his mother, Mrs. William Haigh. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Don Morphy of Waterloo were weekend guests the family and a yellOw rosebud, compliments of the Grosvenor Club. Host for the dinner, L.G. Roberts, welcomed the family to London. Son of the guest of honour, Donald Welsh, acted as Master of Ceremonies and officiated at the presentation of a money tree from her five children. Mrs. Welsh also received many gifts from her family. Following the dinner, the festivities resumed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Roberts where other birthday gifts were presented.
