Mr. and Mrs. Peter D. Cluff were married September 21 in St. Marys
Roman Catholic Church, Woodstock. The bride is the former Lucy
Pietryszyn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pietryszyn, and the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cluff, all of Woodstock. The
couple is residing in Exeter where the groom is employed with the
Bank of Nova Scotia.

Early autumn ..nuptials popular choice of district couples
At the Huron County WI
'rally held in Cranbrook Monday,
Miss Susan Heard, Huron
County home economist,
reported that there were 61
clubs taking part in the fall 4-H
project ``Cottons May Be
Smart".
The next project will be
"Meat on the Menu". Senior
training school this fall will be
"Dressmaking with a
Difference."
Several Institutes in West
Huron displayed and explained
how to do some different and
interesting hobbies.
Mrs. Stanley Bride gave a
report on the Ontario Food
Council's work through the
summer checking on the quality
of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Mrs. Harry Strang brought
greetings from the London area.
Twenty-four answered the
roll call from South Huron. Miss
Sharon Passmore, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Passmore,
RR 3 Exeter, was the winner of
Mrs. Sarah. Saunders, formerly
of Exeter and now residing in
Atwood, was reunited recently
with her sister, Mrs. Edith
Claber, Middleton, Manchester,
Lancashire, England, whom she
has not seen since 1924. She also
met her brother-in-law, Charles
Claber, for the first time. Mr.
and Mrs. Claber will be spending
a month at the home of Mr., and
Mrs, Tom Vickerman, formerly
of Exeter,
Mrs. Agnes Fanson celebrated
her 80th birthday at the home
of her daughter, and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Keith MeLagan,
Logan Township where she
resides. Sixty relatives gathered
Sunday afternoon for a birthday
dinner.

ceremony conducted by Rev.
Stewart Miner, Thames
Entering the church on the
arm of her father, the bride wore
a floor-length Mine gown. ,of
white neap de sole styled with a
bateau neckline, long sleeves and
An empire waistline .accented
with soft bow 'trim. Her graceful
train, edged with the same
delicate Swiss lace which
trimmed the sleeves and 'hem of
the gown, fell .softly from the
waistline accented by an
arrangement of peau de sole
roses. Her scalloped four,tiered
French silk illusion veil was
gathered to a headpiece of white
lace petals and semi-crown of
crystals. She carried a full
cascade bouquet of yellow roses.
Sisters of the bride were her
only attendants. Mrs. James
Sweitzer, London, matron of
honor, in Persian melon, and
Miss Carol Johns, Toronto,
bridesmaid, in marina blue, wore
similarly styled sleeveless sheaths
of chiffon over satin. The gowns
featured matching guipure lace
bodices,. empire waists accented
with bows at front and flowing
chiffon back panels falling from
shoulders to floor. The
attendants' ,floral cluster
headpieces holding double
crown veils, matched their
dresses and their shoes. They
carried gold and bronze mums
with wide gold velvet ribbons.
Best man was Robert Swan,
Toronto. Ushers were Steve
Johns, only brother of the bride,
and Thomas Janes,
brother-in-law of the groom,
Sarnia.
The wedding dinner was
served in the church parlor and a
reception followed at Engleside
Farm, the home of the bride's
parents.
The bride's mother chose a
dark green velvet gown,
matching velvet hat and a
gardenia and stephanotis
corsage. The groom's mother
had selected a gold dress and
jacket of silk shantung, feather
hat in gold tones, brown
accessories and a corsage of
yellow roses.
For travelling, the bride
changed to a royal blue frosted
souffle wool suit, navy and black
accessories and a corsage of
yellow roses. .
On their return they will live
in Sarnia.
The bride is a graduate of the
Victoria Hospital School of
Nursing, class of 1968, and will
join the staff of Sarnia General
Hospital in November. The
groom graduated from Fanshawe
College of Applied Arts and
Technology in 1967 and is
continuing his studies at
Lambton College in Sarnia.

3 of James St. UCW was held
Monday in the Sunday School
rooms with Unit Leader Mrs.
Mervyn Cudmore presiding.
Mrs. George Vriese lead a
singsong of Thanksgiving hymns.
The guest speaker, Mrs.
Stuart Miner was introduced by
Mrs. Robert Down. Mrs. Miner
led in Bible study and discussion
of the theme "What Is A
Christian?" She was thanked by
Mrs. Robert Coates.
Mrs. Harry Dougall and Mrs.
Robert Down presented the
study book and devotions
assisted by Mrs. Grace Elsie and
Mrs. Alice MacLean.

The afternoon unit of the
Main St. UCW met Thursday
afternoon. Thanksgiving was the
theme chosen by Mrs. Harold
Skinner, who opened the
meeting.
Others who assisted with the
program were Mrs. M. Brown,
Mrs. P. Merkley, Mrs. B. Marshall
and Mrs. M. Gardiner.
A musical number was played
by Mrs. Ed Finkbeiner and there
was a reading by Mrs. E. Russell.
Business concerned the
bazaar on November 23 and the
regional meeting to be held at'
Hensall October •23. •

pledges attend
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority
members entertained their
prospective pledges Tuesday
evening at a model meeting at
the home of Mrs. C. S.
MacNaughton.
Mrs. Jack Taylor and Mrs.
Kevin Delbridge were in charge
of the theme "Your Day
Socially". They demonstrated
the proper way to set a table far
a breakfast, a luncheon and
formal dinner.
Louise McBride, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Elmore McBride,
Exeter, was named the recipient
of the $50 nursing scholarship
donated by the Sorority.
Members have agreed to sell
cystic fibrosis Christmas cards
again this year. ,

and a corsage of bronze mums.
Later, the bride changed to a
camel colour knit dress with
matching coat and hat and
brown accessories.
Following a short
honeymoon, the couple will
reside in London.

setting recently for the wedding
of Miss Roberta Wentland,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
W. Wentland of Bristol and

area, attended the reception at
La Quinta's Rose Room,
Wolcott.

honeymoon, the bride wore a
two piece brown and white knit
suit with brown accessories.
They will make their home in St,
Louis, Missouri.
The bride, a private secretary,
is a graduate of Fisher Junior
College. Her husband is a

Baskets of white and pink
gladioli decorated the church for
the ceremony which united the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.W.
Henry, CFS Falconbridge, and
the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E.
Mathers, Grand Bend.
On, the arm of her father, the
bride looked stunning in her
floor-length wedding gown of
delicate white chantilly lace. The
bodice was highlighted by a
flattering jewel neckline, and
long puffed wrist-length sleeves.
Elegance was portrayed in the
gently controlled "cage" style,
while a delicate satin ribbon
touched with tiny satin buttons
fell from the neckline to the
floor. The main center of
attention was focused on the
elegant cathedral nylon illusion
veil cascading from a cap of tiny
Swiss guipure lace petals
touched with tiny seed pearls.
She carried miniature white
carnations, pink sweetheart roses
and a mauve orchid.

Tracy Lee Henry, Falconbridge.
Attending the groom as best
man was Jerry Mathers, London.

Following a reception at the
Green Forest Motel, Grand
Bend, the couple left on a
honeymoon trip to the Bruce
Peninsula. The bride travelled in
a two-piece boucle suit of deep
mauve with fox fur trim, and
black accessories.
They are residing in London.
The bride is a RNA at
Victoria Hospital and the groom
is employed at Gallagher Motors.

workshop in Clinton November
14. Mrs. Wesley Bradnock was
re-appointed as chairman.
West Huron tendered an
invitation for next year's rally.

Strang and Mrs. Bradnock gave
an interesting panel report on
the ACWW convention held in
Lansing, Michigan. Slides were
shown.
