On behalf of the directors and'myself, I wish to extend a cordial invitation •to:everyone in the area to attend our 114th gxeter Fall. Fair. We feel we have an interesting and entertaining fair for yogi enjoyment in this year of 1985. Interested persons frOrn the urban and rural.communities have Po-operated in planning and working together to continue this anneal event. As usual the exhibits in the arena will be placed on Wednesday, Sept. 18, The Wednesday night program will feature the beauty contest and baby show with an added highlight in crowning of the T''A Baking Queen, Exeter Mayor Jack Delbridge and other local dignitaries will be in attendance to officially open the fair. On the big Fair Day on Thursday, the afternoon activities will open with a mammoth parade led by the Zurich Citizens Band and Majorettes. The parade will start at one o'clock, from the vicinity of Cann's elevators and the Co-Op Mill, due to the condition of Main Street. Featuring the afternoon program will be Usborne's own Earl Heywood and Martha, RCA Victor recording artists. We have revised our classes in the livestock divisions as well as increasing our prize money and we hope this will meet with all exhibitors' approval. The 4 -H calf club competition and livestock show, as well as the popular horse show will also be held during the afternoon. I would like to thank my . . . TEMPLEMAN STAFFA The United Church Women catered to a dinner in the. Family Lifel4C,entre, • Saturday, evening honouring Mr.'s &: Me,* Walterve O'Brien on their golden wedding anniversary. The evening was planned by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Don O'Brien, Flint, Michigan. A highlight of the evening was a humorous account of their courting days given by their son, Don. Sunday afternoon and evening, open hobse was held in the Family Life Centre. Pouring tea in the afternoon were Mrs. Arthur Treffry, Florida and Mrs. Carl Briggs, Flint, Michigan, and in the evening Mrs. Clarence Coleman, Cromarty, and Mrs. Ross Forest, Kippen. Mr. & Mrs. O'Brien were the recipitants of many lovely cards and gifts, among them a life membership for Mrs. O'Brien from the Staffa United Church Women. PERSONALS Bob Templeman and Alec Scott began classes this week at the University of Guelph. Visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Nick Jeromkin and family were Ted Jeromkin, Mr. Heinz Rusche and Mrs. Karin Von Rusenstiel and sons Frankie and Christopher on the weekend. Mr. & Mrs. Larry Carey have returned home from a Northern Ontario honeymoon. Miss Margaret McCann has registered at the Motherhouse Academy this week to begin Grade 11. Donald Carey registered on Tuesday at London Teachers' College. Mr. & Mrs. Richard Muegge, newlyweds have taken residence in their new home in Kitchener. Many friends from this community attended the wedding reception and dance of Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Ratz who were married Saturday. By MRS, S. Mrs. Arnold Kuntz discusied the motto "It is better to be 70 years young and hopeful than to be 40 years old and pessimistic". A panel • show "Flashback" was held. Mrs. Schenk was mistress of ceremonies and Mrs. Irvin Rader, Mrs. Arnold Kuntz, and Mrs. Art Allemand were panelists for the, one roomed school, drying apples, and making ice-cream. Sharon Rader played two piano selections. 'Mrs. Glen, Webb, president, dealt with the business. The 4-H leaders for the fall project, "Cottons may be smart" are Mrs. Ebert Weigand, Mrs. Stuart Wolfe, Mrs. Gordon Bender, and Mrs. Leonard Schenk. Mrs. Glen Webb is in charge of the display at Exeter ,Fall Fair. The list for 1969 will be presented at the fall executive meeting. Four members, Mrs. Syd Baker, Mrs. Glen Webb, Mrs. Leonard Schenk, and Mrs. Hugh Boyle,attended the annual Associated Country-women of the World convention at Lansing, Mich., Thursday. Mrs. Arnold Kuntz will represent the W.I. at the Auxiliary meeting of Huronview. The Institute is very happy with the letters received from their little adopted girl in India. 4—H MEETING The first meeting of Dashwood 4-H girls club No. 1 was' held Monday with 17 girls present. Leaders are Mrs. Gordon Bender and. Mrs. Leonard Schenk. New officers were elected: president, Marjory Schenk; vice-president, DArlene Rader; secretary, Olga Zemetis. Discussion was held on cottons, color and line. Roll call for next meeting is "One point to consider when buying cotton fabrics". PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Murray Wolfe, Patricia and Carolyn of Montreal vacationed with Mrs. Wes Wolf. Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Wolfe and Mrs. Wes Wolfe attended *the Haist reunion held recently at Crediton. • Mr. • & Mrs. John deNiet of Toronto were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader and family. Mrs. Syd Baker, Mrs. 'Glen Webb, Mrs. Hugh Boyle and Mrs. Leonard Schenk attended the Associated Country Women of the World Twelfth triennial Conference at Michigan State University, Lansing, Michigan, Thursday. They were thrilled to meet members from other countries and thought every event was just wonderful including the art, wool, and cotton exhibits, the Great Lakes Navy band and the Koshare Indian Dancers. Mr. & Mrs. George Braid of Croydon, England, are visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Ron Braid and familY. Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Pfile spent Sunday with relatives in London. Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Salmon and girls and Mr. & Mrs. Ron Merrier vacationed at •Manitoulin and Key River. Mr. & Mrs. Bob Hoffman 'joined them at Key River.
