Some of the stars of yesteryear that are coming back for the grudge match are Ivan Hearn, Glenn McFalls, Jim Freeman, Harry Wraith, Steve Storey, How- ard McDonald, Earl Morgan and Bob Taylor. Taylor, a former top notch hurler in London city league competition will be tossing the ball for the oldsters while Bob Donaldson and Brian Lightfoot will likely share pitching duties for the present team. QUEENS TIED Last Wednesday, six members and one weigh-in were present for the Tops Club meeting. The weigh-in was very satisfactory. Mrs. Gary McKenzie and Mrs. Harry Bond tied for weekly queen honors. Letters were read from the new supervisor, Mrs, Barbara Billinger, and from the leader of St. Marys Diet-wise Tops Club. The latter contained words of encouragement. There was also an invitation to attend their Sidewalk Days to be held in Aug- ust and to see the parade in which the Tops Club plan to enter a float. Young farmers see demo plot Last Wednesday evening, the Lucan 4-H Field Crop Club held its meeting at the home of Harry KniP, Centralia, with 12 mem- bers, two parents and two lead- ers, Harvey Ovens and Clark Rollings, present. In the absence of the presid- ent, Ron Pullman, vice-presid- ent Pat Ryan took charge. The deinonstration plot prov- ed most interesting. She will be greatly missed by many Lucan ladies, CHURCH NEWS With all organizations closed for the summer, there is no 'Anglican or Pentecostal Holiness news this week. The United Church Women so- cial committee of the United Church met at the church Tues- day to settle a date for the Rasp- berry supper. A tentative date of July 17 had been set, but with raspberries not ripe, a new date of Wednesday, July 31 has been set. It was also decided to cater for the wedding of Miss Brenda Brooks, August 10. Rev. G. W. Sach will preach his farewell sermon Sunday, be- fore moving to his new charge at Gorrie and Wroxeter. PERSONALS Mr. and, Mrs. Bernard Avery and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Finlayson and family have returned from a vacation in Kin- cardine, where the two families were able to get cottages side by side. Mrs. Frank Booth of George St. family of Delhi visited for several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. John Rodd and family. Miss Aggie Jorne of Holland is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. John Witteveen, Sharon and Brian. Hensall couple flying to south Mr. & Mrs. Carl Payne left Thursday by plane for Santa Ana, California, to visit their daughter Mrs. Gary Merritt and new grandchild, Gregory Ivan. Lucan, is now a patient in the Halton Centennial Manor, Milton. She had as Tuesday guests, Mrs. W. W. Garrett of London, Mrs. Bob Coleman of Lucan and Mrs. Richard Dickens of Exeter. Art Black, formerly of Lucan, called on Lucan friends last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kennedy and family have returned from a vacation at their cottage at Colpoy Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bender of London were also with ,them.
