By HOMER PIGEON:
There were two races again
this we. The main event beiag
from Peterborough ,and the 2nd
event was frPm Clehamk Setnr.,
day just had to be ebent the best
weather we have hed this year
for flying pigeons.. ,In fact It was
just about a perfect day fer any
kind of a sport-even girl watch-
big for instance,.
The birds were released in.
Peterborough at 6:45 am well
before most members ..of our
club were too far away from their "certas", We didn't ex-
pect too many birds would be
home before 10;50 so much to the
surprise of the Culbert house,
how there was a DIN on .tnecOpp
at 10:05. This bird was travelling
at 1512.4 .yerds per minute which
Is the fastest any bird has flown
in this club for quite some time.
Ten minutes later there were
more birds on the scene. Jack
Hardy had his first one at .10;.1$,2.g.
Norm was very .close' behind him
with one at 10,15.40. There was
just six yards per minute dif-
ference between these two birds.
chuck Barrett was in at
10.01.11 but as he has to .give
us 'overfly from St. Mery's to
Lucan he had to settle for 4th.
The second race was from
Oshawa with the birds being re-
leased at 8:45 am, They, too, had
the help of the tail wind which
had them home at 1105 making
1440.4 yards per minute. As I
mentioned last week, Willy Van-
neste was there with bells on this
week. Willy's first bird was ahead
by a bit over three minutes.
Clarence Hardy, who is always
a threat at the first position was
right there to scoop up second
and third. Then in the next few
positions it was just a matter
of how fast you could clock your
bird. Some of the positions were
only decimals apart. A good ex-
ample of this is Jack Hardy and
Fast times recorded:
Pigeons ..fly in, two races
