The SHDHS graduate will continue his studies at West- ern. • Anglican women hear of College St. Paul's Anglican Church Women held their regular meet-, ing in the church schoolroom Thursday with president Mrs. Annie Reid in the chair. The meeting opened with devotions from the Living Message. Mrs. Mary Taylor read an interesting letter from their prayer Partner, Captain Corrie, who told of his work at Beverley • College, Toronto, and how it fills a great need for men corn- ing out of prison. Capt. Corrie extended an invitation to the AC W to visit him at Beverley Lodge on Sunday, June 2 and it is hoped one or two will attend. It was moved that a donation be sent • to Capt. Corrie to help with his work at Beverley Lodge. Rebekahs host Exeter sisters • Members of Pride of Huron Rebekah Lodge, Exeter, were entertained at the regular meet- ing of Amber Rebekah Lodge, Hensall, on Wednesday evening. The Noble Grand, Mrs. John Corbett presided, assisted by the Vice-Grand, Mrs. Earl Camp- s bell. The visitors from Exeter were received and welcomed. Mrs. Elizabeth Riley reported on the visit made to the Nursing Home. An invitation was accepted from Goderich Lodge to the in- itiation ceremony June 4th. The following nominations were made: Noble Grand, Mrs. Earl Campbell; Vice - Grand, Mrs. Elgin Thompson; record- ing secretary, Mrs. Leona Parke; financial secretary, Mrs. Bertha MacGregor; treasurer, Mrs. Ed Corbett; trustee, Mrs. George • Clifton. Mrs. Wm Ford, Vice Grand of Pride of Huron Lodge, brought greetings from the Lodge in the absence of the Noble Grand, MrS. Don MacGregor. Orr conducted con- tests and games after which the Kitchen Band from Exeter enter- tained with several selections. A smorgasbord luncheon was serv- ed and a social hour enjoyed. Mrs. Grant MacLean chair- Couples mark anniversaries Mr. and Mrs. Dirk VanWieren, 67 London Road, Hensall, ob- served their 40th wedding an- niversary at their home on Mon- day with a family dinner and open house in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Klaas VanWieren of 5'7 London Road, son and daughter-in-law, celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary the same day. The senior couple came to Canada from Holland 19 years ago this month and have lived in Hensall area for 1'7 of those years. They have two daughters and three sons, all living in Canada. They were the recipients of many gifts and cards. Dr. Robert McClure returned Missionary will speak in Mitchell United Church Thursday, May 23 at 8 pm. A good representation of church members are expected from district churches to hear this speaker. Mr. and Mrs. Murney Twit- chell, Kimberly Ann and Jamie, London, visited over the weekend with the former's mother, Mrs. Verna Twitchell, who returned home with them for a few days visit. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Horton left by plane on Friday, May 17 from Toronto to spend three weeks holidays with relatives in England. The trip took seven hours. Mr. Wm Gibson returned Sun- day from a fifteen-month trip which included Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Hawaii. He re- ports a beautiful climate but Ontario does look wonderful. Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle, Robert and Ann, left Friday morning to spend the weekend at Restoule Lake near North Bay, returning Monday evening. Mr. Charles Mickle of Hamilton, spent Saturday and Sunday with the family. Mrs. Dorothy McDonald, Ailsa Craig, spent the weekend and holiday with Mr. & Mrs. R. A. Orr. Miss Etta Jarrott and Miss Vera Colbert of Stratford visit- ed this weekend With Mrs. John E. McEwen. The ladies were then given the questions which the girls had to answer on "Achievement Day", A skit "Packing a weekend bag" was given and was intro- duced by Miss Donna Whitehouse, the cast included Misses Diane McKay, Maureen Connolly, Jo- anne Stoll, Lynn Alderdice, Mar- ilyn Durst, arid Barbara Gem- mell. Mrs. James Drummond gave a reading. Club leaders Mrs. Robert Gemmell and Mrs. Ken McKay were presented with gifts in recognition of their work with the girls club and the two Provincial Honour winners, Miss Donna Whitehouse and Miss Ann Kleinhaar were also presented with gifts from Kippen East. Mrs. Robert Bell gave courtesy remarks. Lunch was served. Mrs. John E. McEwen visit- ed last week with M. & Mrs. Mansel Fowler in Goderich. Mr. & Mrs. Harry Horton left Friday evening for a visit with relatives in England. Anniversary service will be held in Carmel Presbyterian Church, Sunday May 26, at 10 am. Rev. G. L. Royal of Goderich will be the guest speaker. The organist Mrs. Malcolm Dougall will preside at the organ and di- rect the choir with the music. The topic was two farm histories and Mrs, Arnold Kuntz gave the Kuntz farm history, Mrs. Irvin Rader gave the Hilton Ford farm history which was prepared by Mr. Ford. Several 4-H girls' books were on display as well as a sandwich tray and relishes. Miss Barbara Grenier gave her commentary she had given at achievement day at Seaforth. Mrs. Martha Miller conducted a sing song. Mrs. Howard Mate r, vice- president, conducted the busi- ness. Conveners of standing com- mittees brought in their pro- grams for the coming year. Plans Were made to attend the Dis- trict Annual at Grand Bend May 23. A collection was taken for pennies for Friendship. Gifts were presented to the 4-11 lead- ers. At the Arena Mrs. Garnet Allen, president of Hensall Auxiliary gave words of welcome. A civic welcome was given by Councillor Oliver Jaques, and president E. R. Davis brought greetings from Hensall Legion Branch 468. Chairlady was Mrs. Evelyn Car- roll, Zone Commander from God- erich.
