The people of this community
were shocked to learn of the sud-
den passing of Mr. Frank Stagg
at his home in the village Sat-
urday, May 11. He had spent
many years of his life in this
district and was highly esteemed
by all who knew him.
He is survived by a son Reg
and three grandchildren in Exe-
ter, also a sister in England.
The Cromarty Ladies Aid met
at the home of Mrs. James Miller
with Mrs. Gerald Carey pre-
siding. Devotions were led by
Mrs. Charles Douglas and Mrs.
G. Carey. The roll call was an-
swered with an amusing incident
from childhood days. Guitar
selections were given by Bruce
Miller.
During the business period a
motion was made to send a do-
nation to Perth Presbytery to
help pay Malcolm Mcintyre's
travelling expenses to Formosa.
Plans were also made for cat-
ering for the Stratford Kiwanis
Club supper in June.
Lunch was served by the hos-
tess assisted by Mrs. M. Dow
and Mrs. T. L. Scott.

A single planning board for
the County of Huron will be the
topic of discussion at a series
of meetings for municipal of-
ficials.
When the meetings commence
in Clinton at the CommunityCen-
ire, Tuesday, May 21, repre-
sentatives will present pros and
cons to such an arrangement.
At the present time, there are
planning boards in various are-
as throughout the Cietinty but
only the Town of Exeter has an
official plan.
!This single planning board
would encompass the entire area
of Hurori County and will complee
Mont the work being carried out
by the Various planning boards
throughout the county.
In a suggested constitution,
the proposed County of Huron
Planning Board would consist of
five members feorhCountyCoun-
ell and five members whO are

ceunty, will leave membership
at 11.

Penitentiary terms were given
to Robert SteWart Smith, 20, of
RR 4 Bruesels, and Michael An-
thony Reynoldt, 18, of Clinton,
fel. breaking out of Huron County
jail April 24.
They Were sentenced in county
Court in Goderich, Thursda3%
Smith was given a two-year
sentence In Kingston Peniten-
tiary to run consecutively with
a five-year term alreadyrecetv-
ed for armed robbery of the
Bank of Montreal in Brucefield
Jan. 3: Smith was also serving
six Months for a break-in at the
McGee and Sons Garage at God-
erieh last October,
Reynolds received a 2 1/2-year
term at kingstoh. He had been
in custody at Goderich serving
a six-month sentence for break;-
Ing probation following a con-
viction for break and enter at

The pair broke jail about 7:06
p.m. April 24 after a seufile
with two guards. The guards
were locked in cells and a car
belonging to one of the guards
