The members of the Clandeboye Cooking Colleens completed their
4-H year with a mother and daughter banquet, Wednesday. At Sat-
urday's Achievement Day at Medway High School in Arva, the
Clandeboye girls were the largest single group in attendance.

Clandeboye club entertain
women of church and Institute
pride of Huron Rebekah Lodge
held a banquet in Caven Pres-
byterian Church last Wednesday
evening in honor of the visit of
District Deputy President Marj-
orie Broadfoot, of the Clinton
Rebekah Lodge. Gueits were also
present from Clinton and Thed-
ford Lodges.

styling of hair
The Main Street UCW evening
unit met last. Monday evening
and after the business proceeded
to Caven Presbyterian Church
for a hair styling show demon-
strated by Mrs. Lynda Hayter
and Miss Janice Hayter of the
Silhouette Hair Fashions.
Mrs. Anton Miller and. Mrs.
J. C. Boyne were models for
hair done in the Bubble style
which was quite becoming. Mrs.
Bill Perry was given a party-
look style and Mrs. Dan McLeod
modeled a wig. A facial was
demonstrated by Miss Hayter
using Mrs. J. Meikle as a model.
Following the show a singsong
was led by Mrs. Ina Webber
with Mrs. Harold Chappel as
accompanist. A social hour was
enjoyed.

ducted a business period in which
plans were made for a wedding
dinner May 18 and another in
July.

Mrs. George Potter, Clinton,
supply and welfare co-secretary
of Huron and Perth P resbyterials,
was guest speaker at the meet-
ing of Main Street UCW after-
noon unit Thursday afternoon.
She gave an outline of the supply
and welfare work at county level.
Mrs. Susan Link reviewed a
chapter of the study book on
Profiles of Japan. Mrs. Tom
Walker entertained with a medley
of old favorite hymns on the
piano.
Mrs. Percy Merkley conducted
the worship with the theme "Mis-
sion is the Response to God."
She was assisted by Mrs. Cecil
Murray and Mrs. E. R. Hopper.
Mrs. R. E. Russell gave a poem
on "Mother."

see Japan pics
Mrs. Robert Russell gave a
travelogue with pictures of her
trip to Japan at the meeting of
James Street UCW unit 4 Mon-
day evening. This concludes the
year's study on Japan for the
unit.
Mrs. R. D. Jermyn introduc-
ed the speaker and led in the
devotional assisted by Miss Lau-
retta Siegner and Mrs. Howard
Holtzmann. Miss Siegner gave
a reading "What is a Mother".
Leader Mrs. Arnold Linden-
field conducted the busines s.
Hostesses were Mrs. Jermyn,
Miss Siegner, Miss Olive Pars-
ons and Mrs. Holtzmann.

ton returned home last week
after spending the winter in Flor-
ida.
Mrs. May Delve of Victoria,
BC, is visiting with Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Cornish and relatives.
F/O R. Denroche of Winnipeg
visited over the weekend with
his mother-in-law, Mrs. Louise
Mitchell. He is posted to Ger-
many and he and Mrs. Denroche
and family expect to leave in
August.

with the latter 's mother, Mrs.

Mrs. James Lindsay of Van-
couver, BC, and Miss Beatrice
Hodgert, formerly of Oshawa,
visited last Wednesday with their
cousin, Mrs. Whitney Coates.
Miss Hodgert is going to Van-
couver to reside after conducting
a nursing home in Oshawa for
several years.

Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hod-
gins and Stuart visited Sunday in
Brussels with Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
Martin. Mrs. McInnis and Mrs.

Mr. Robert Knox of town is in
Ireland owing to the death of his
sister.

Fanson, Huron St., at the auction

were their guests. The afternoon
was spent in playing games and
concluded with refreshments and
the traditional birthday cake.

Mrs. Clayton Kooy, Exeter, were
Saturday evening guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Kooy. Clayton
was celebrating his birthday.

Miss Betty Scott, president of

bald was presented with a Blue
Mountain pottery swan, Mrs.
Worthington and Mrs. Donaldson
were given gifts from girls too.
Miss Donna Snelgrove thanked
the leaders and the girls re-
ceived their WI spoons from
Mrs. Arnold Lewis and Mrs.
Frank Hardy.
Later they repeated their pro-
gram which was used Saturday
at Achievement Day at Medway
school. Clandeboye had the
largest class of 19. There were
140 club girls taking part onSat-
urday.
