backs unity
• The Ontario Federation of Ag-
riculture and the Ontario Farm-
ers' Union will be asked"to pro-
ceed with all haste" to work to-
ward a single united farm or-
ganization in the province.
In a resolution passed during
a directors' meeting, the Huron
County Federation of Agricul-
ture urged establishment of a
"united voice" to speak for On-
tario farmers.
The resolution and a number
of accompanying recommenda-
tions approved by directors) are
to be forwarded to a special
16-man joint OFA-OFU commit-
tee meeting in Toronto on the
question of unity.
Local recommendations r e -
sulted from a series of meetings
between representatives of the
Huron federation and the Ash-
field Township OFU local.
The county federation also re-
commended study be made to seek
ways of setting up a strong na-
tional farm organization.

The executive meeting of Perth
Deanery ACW was held Thursday
afternoon with the group from St.
Patrick's Church as hostesses.
The meeting started at 2;30
with the president, Mrs. T.
Barrett of Strafford, in the chair.
Plans were made for the Spring
deanery meeting to be held at
St. Paul's Church, Stratford, on
Wednesday, May 29 starting with
Holy communion at 10 o'clock.
At the close of the business
session a social hour was enjoy-
ed.
PERSONALS
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Carroll held
a birthday dinner last. Wednesday
for their son Ian, who was cele-
brating his fourth birthday.

vice at St. Patrick's Church. The

fin, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Mac-

Lucan, visited with Mr. and Mrs.

family of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff
Russell celebrated their 25th an-
niversary with a dinner at the
Village Inn. Mrs. Reta Dare,
Mrs. Ruth Boles, St. Catharines
and Mr. Everett Russell, Essex,
bridal attendants were present.
Mrs. Russell was presented
with an orchid corsage and one
dozen red roses by her husband.
Later in the evening the happy
couple entertained friends, rel-
atives and neighbors at their
home. Guests were present from
St. Catharines, Jordan, Niagara
Falls, Essex, Windsor, Cottam,
Detroit, Parkhill, Grand Bend
and Shipka.

trip to Washington in the holiday
week. They stayed at the Am-
bassador Hotel and visited the
White House, Arlington Cemetery
