BURT Last Friday night March 8, the Shamrock playoffs got under way here at the centre. In the pee wee division in a firstgame of a two game total goal series it was Buren East over Ilderton by a score of 3-1. In the bantam series in the first game pf a two game total goal series it was Ilderton 5. Lucan 2 and in the midget class in the second game of a two game total goal series it was Lucan '7 Dorchester 2. Dorchester won the first game 8-$, Lucan wen the series 10-8. It looked as if Dorchester was going to take it though, as the game was tied 2 all half way through but then the Lucanites made it 3-2 at the end of the second period. In the third period they decid- ed they could win it all, and to prove it they scored 4 unanswer- ed goals to win going away. At the present time we don't know who their opponents will be in the final round, In novice Shamrock hockey on Saturday afternoon, it was Lucan 4, Huron (8) 3. The second game was washed out as Exeter got their game time mixed up so Hur- on (A) and Huron (B) played an exhibition tilt with Huron (B) winning 4-1. In the third game Stoneybrook pulled an upset beating Lambeth 3-2. There was also an upset in the fourth game as Dorchester walloped Strathroy 6-1 in the South Middlesex league final play- offs, last Thursday night, in a two 3 out of 5 series. Ailsa Craig took a 2-1 lead over Esquire Hotel in the (A) series with a decisive 4-1 victory and in the (B) series Ild- erton took the lead two games to one, over Lambeth with a 4-3, 10 minute overtime victory. Jamie Robb of Ilderton had a real fine night as he scored all 4 goals, LOL EUCHRE There were 10 tables in play at the LOL Euchre in the Orange Hall last Wednesday night. High score prizes went to Mrs. Lloyd Hern and Mr. Harvey Hodgins and lone hand prizes to Mrs. Heber Shute and Mr. Harry Car- roll. Mr. Cliff Abbott won the box of groceries. Officers were elected, Co-leaders were Mrs. Ken Jones and Mrs. Ross Holden, secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Torn Somerville. It was decided to hold, monthly meeting each 4th Tuesday at the home of the members. The new co-leaders were in charge of the worship service and Mrs. Wm, Froats, presi- dent of the UCW, was the pest speaker who spoke on UCW work. It was decided to attend a similar UCW unit meeting in Wesley United Church, April 9. EVENING UNIT The Evening UCW Unit is spon- soring a bake sale in the Ross Holden store at 2 p.m. Saturday. ' ST. PATRICK'S CHURCH The St. Patrick's Church held its regular CWL meeting Mar. 10 in the school gymtoritnn with 12 members present. The guest speaker, Mr. T. J. Sailona of London, spoke on the "Importance of Education." The Variety Show Friday night, presented by the Edgewood Jr. Farmers drew a very large crowd and was enjoyed by all.
