More than 600 persons took
advantage of excellent weather
conditions Sunday afternoon to
attend the snowmobile races held
at Pine Ridge Chalet in Hay
Township.
Sponsored by the 35-member
Pine Ridge Chalet Snowmobile
club, the races—which will be
held annually—drew spectators
and contestants from a wide area.
Barry Mousseau of Hensell
was the only contestant able to
win two races during the after-
noon, coming home in front in
the 18 h.p. and over class and
the farmer's special.
Len Van of Exeter was the
victor in the opening event for
vehicles with horse power pro-
duction from 14 1/2 to 1'7 1/2
and placed second in the race
'confined to farmers.
The closest race of the day
came in the powder puff spec-
ial where Mrs. Grant Skinner
edged Mrs. Jim Newby by the
narrowest of margins, describ-
ed by one official as the length
of a ski.
One of the highlights of the
afternoon for the many children
attending were the free sleigh
rides propelled by George Beer's
ponies.
While most of the property
used for the races is owned by
Don Mousseau the adjacent prop-
erty of Eugene Willard was used
for parking purposes.
Following is a complete list of
the winners of the various race
events:
14 1/2 - 17 1/2 h.p. - Len Wei,
Grant skinner, Gordon Dale, Sea-
