dale 4-H Homemaking Club 1 for
the project "The Club Girl En-
tertains" was held at the home
of leader Mrs. Ray Cann, Satur-
day, February 3, with twelve
girls present.

The Grand Bend 4-H girls held
their first meeting on January
29 at the home of Mrs. James
Kneale, Beach O'Pines, the theme
being "The Club Girl Enter-
tains". Twenty girls were pres-
ent.
The girls chose the name of the
club to be the "Tea 'n Twenty".

Mrs. Lorne Preezeator ,acting
as recording Steward. The an-
neal written report and various
rePerts from different commit-
tees were adopted.
The minister reported on the
life of the church, with emphasis
upon missions and recruitment
for full-time service. He an-
nounced the South Huron Mission
for April. Lorne Preszcator,
Ross Pickering and- Ed. Chamb-
ers were appointed a committee
to assist in planning for the
crusade. The anniversary date
was set for May 26.
Members were reminded that
in 1969 the church would observe
its one hundredth anniversary. A
committee was appointed to begin
plans for the celebration —Mr.
and Mrs. Ed. L a.mport, Ed.
Chambers, Mrs. Garfield Hill
and Mrs. M. Baker. It was de,
tided to continue the every fam-
ily plan for subscriptions to the
"United Church Observer". The
elders and trustees remain the
same. Stewards re-elected for
three years were Cliff Kenney,
Earl Neil, Jack Galloway, Mrs.
Sam King, Mrs. Lorne Hodge;
treasurer, Mrs. Lorne Preszcat-
or; M& M treasurer, Mrs. Cliff
Kenney; auditors, Earl Neil and
Lorne Hodge; head usher, Cliff
Kenney.
A social half hour was spent
following the meeting.
PLAN FOR 1968
Friday evening, February 2,
the annual meeting of the con-
gregation of Zion United Church,
was held in the Sunday School.
The pastor, Rev. Howard Zur-
brigg was chairman, Wilma r
Wein, secretary. The work of
1967 was reviewed and goals set
for 1968.
During the year the redecora-
tion of the church sanctuary and of
the Sunday School rooms was
completed as a centennial pro-
ject. Ten members were added
to the church and four lost by
death. The membership now
stands at 215. Financial obliga-
tions were met in full. The aver-
age giving per member increas-
ed, as did the average attendance
at morning worship.
Ross Krueger was reappointed
church trustee; Gordon Finkbein-
er, cemetery trustee; Wilmar
Wein and Lloyd Bender, auditors
and Ross Haugh was appointed
chief usher.
Goals for 1968 include in-
creased attendance at midweek
services, the promotion of the
South Huron Crusade (a project
shared with Crediton United) to
be held in Zion Church April 9-
12, with Rev. Reginald Greenway
of British Columbia as speaker;
the promotion of the Teen and
Parent Seminar April 16, and
plans for a Vacation BibleSchool
during the summer.
Bill Schwartz and Ed Hendrick
paid tribute to those who serve
faithfully in the offices of the
church. Spec ial mention was
made of the work of retiring
organist and choir director, Mrs.
Emmery Fahrner and of Mr. G.
E. Wenzel, retiring chief usher.
