Several members of the Hensall Girl Guides received special badges Monday night, with their mothers
watching on. Seven of the girls pictured above were awarded hostess badges and had earned them by

ly. "Doesn't it embarrass you

fellow shrugged. "I keep telling

journeyed to Clinton last Wed-
nesday where they entertained
the realdents of Huronview at the
December birthday party. A pro-
gram was preheated and 1'7 re-
ceived birthday gifts. Lunch was
served.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sanders
of Toronto spent the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Keller.
They all spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Milton Keller and family
of Exeter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Baker and family of Tharnesforcl
were Sunday visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Keller.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader and
Sharon were guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Wellwood Gill of Grand

Mr. Brian Popkey of Waltham,
Quebec, who has spent many
weekends with Rev, and Mrs.
M. J. James while stationed at
Clinton Air Force base has been
transferred to Trenton. lie has

The December meeting of
Dashwood Women's Institute was
in charge of the executive. The
4-H girls from Club 2 presented
their skit. Three girls were pre-
sented gifts for having completed
six projects, The leaders were
also given gifts by the Institute.
The swings for the community
park will be put up. Plans were
completed for entertaining at
Huronview. Mrs. Glen Webb, who
had presided for the business,
turned the program over to Mrs.
Sid Baker.
The program consisted of an
old fasioned square dance, a
kitchen band, readings by Mrs.
Carl Oestreicher, and a sing
song. Rev. Merrill James show-
ed pictures on Dashwood Cen-
tennial day and Expo 67. A Christ-
mas lunch closed the meeting.

The president, Mrs. Ervin Ratz
conducted the business. It was
decided to contribute money to
the current and mission funds
of the church. Rev.Zurbrigg took
charge of the installation of of-
ficers for 1968.
Hostesses were Mrs. Hugo
Schenk, Mrs. Ray Morlock, Mrs.
Leonard Wein and Miss Clara
Geiser.

The December meeting of the
Crediton WI was held Tuesday
evening, December 5. Roll call
was "Bring a friend and intro-
duce her," The president, Mrs.
Harvey Hodgins, welcomed the
visitors.
Mrs. Tom Triebner took
charge of the program. The room
was decorated for Christmas,
Christmas songs were sung, and
Mrs. William Amerongen, dress-
ed in costume of the Netherlands,
told the story of Christmas in
Holland. Mrs. Amerongen and her
friend, Mrs. Wynja of Seaforth,
sang in Dutch "Silent Night" and
"Oh, Come All Ye Faithful".
Miss Carol Hendrick played sev-
eral piano solos and Ron Amer-
ongen played numbers on his
electric guitar, In one,his young
brother Wayne sang to his ac-
companiment. Mrs. Char 1 e s
Browning read a poem "My Kind
of Christmas".
Mrs. Tom MacMillan, Exeter,
demonstrated the art of gift wrap-
ping. Draws were held for paper
and bows she donated. Winners
were Miss Hendrick, Mrs. Cliff
Kenney and Mrs. Jack Galloway.
Lunch consisted of fancy sand-
wiches and Christmas cookies.
In addition, Mrs. Ametongen pro-
vided a treat of Dutch Yuletide
cookies. Hostesses were Mrs.
T. Triebner, Mrs. C. Brown-
ing, Mrs. A. Ford, Mrs. S. King
and Mrs. R. Krueger.

noon the old fire hall was sold
to Mr. John Wade, the former
township office to Mr. Leo Boyle.
The Library Board decided
that starting in January, the lib-
rary will be open once a week
only, Tuesday evening from '7 to
9. This plan is on a trial basis
for the month of January. In
addition, the library will be clos-
ed on December 26 and January

Mr. and Mrs. Will Oestricher
attended the funeral of Mr. Harry
Greenwood in Strathroy Monday.
Mr. Edward Schenk, Toronto,
spent some time with Mr. and
Mrs. Hugo Schenk, Julie and
Kathie.
Mrs. Charles Fleece (Eleanor
Holtzman) of Bloomfield Hills,
Michigan, and Mrs. Arleigh John-
son of Detroit visited with Miss
Lillian Hoist. They had come to
this area to see Mrs. Johnson's
mother, Mrs. Sam Goodwin (the
former Mary Holtzman) who is
in the nursing home at Ailsa
Craig.
Earl Pfaff, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Pfaff, is a patient
at South Huron Hospital.
The churches are planning
Christmas programs. That of
the United Church will be held
Friday evening, December 15.
The EUB Church will present
theirs Sunday evening, December
24.

The euchre held Friday evening
at Neil's Community Centre was
well attended. Conveners for the
party were Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Lewis and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert
Lewis.
High score for ladies was won
by Miss Betty Morley; lone hands,
Mrs. Earl Lewis; low, Mrs. Earl
Dixon; gent's high, Luther Mor-
ley; lone hands, George Hodgson;
low, Jack Gilmour. Special prize
was won by Percy Noels.
Next party is to be held De-
cember 22, conveners are Mr.
and Mrs. Karl Pickering and Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Lightfoot.
RE-BURIED
In October Mrs. Nelson Sin-
clair was buried in a London
cemetery because of incorrect
information given to hospital
authorities. Thursday, December
7 the body was brought to the
Crediton cemetery for reburial
beside her husband. Reverend
Douglas Warren conducted the
graveside ceremony.
Relatives were present from
Lucan, Exeter and Southampton.
