It happened when Reg McDonald, centre, presented pictures to George Inglis and R. E. Pooley, showing Mr. Inglis presenting the new Legion charter to Mr, Pooley after the branch name was changed in his honor in the spring. Herbert Neill,. 82, founder and curator of Huron County pioneer Museum from 1951 until. 1964, was honoured by Huron County Council at Its November session in Goderich Monday when he was presented with an ap. propriate plaque as a token Of appreciation. Warden Donald McKenzie, Ash- field, made the presentation on behalf of his colleagues. Now a resident of "Huronview" the county home near Clinton, where he is continuing to Work on models for the Museum, Mr. Neill thanked council and corn,. mented that the museum Collec- tion had been 3Q years in the building and was still going on. Warden McKenzie recited the events that led up to the inaugur- ation of the County Pioneer Mu- seum. At the November 1948Session, the property Committee had re- commended that an inspection be made of Mr. Neill's collection, At the January 1949 Session, mi., Neill advised he was willing to sell his collection for $3,000 provided a museum could be secured or built to house the collection. The committee decid- ed to purchase the collection and instal Mr. Neill as custodian and provide him with living quart- ers. Council, at November 1949 Ses- sion, set up an Historical Com- mittee consisting of the follow- ing: Charles Asquith, Auburn; Harry McCreath, Colborne; Geo- rge Jefferson, Clinton; H. C. Beaver; E. Stanley Snyder, chair- man; John Armstrong, Warden, Hullett. At the June 1950 Session, ar- rangements were made for es- tablishing the Museum at the old Central School in the Town of Goderich. The Museum was of- ficially opened on July 4, 1951, by the late Thomas Pryde, MLA for Huron. Mr. Neill resigned as curator of the Museum, Sept. 30, 1964. By MRS. ERVIN RADER The Zion Lutheran Church La- dies' Aid met Wednesday, No- vember 8, with group 3 and Mrs. John Rader convener in charge of the program, devotions and lunch. Mrs. Leonard Schenk, presid- ent, was in charge of the business. A nominating committee consist- ing of Rev. E. Steinman, Mrs. Leonard Schenk, Mrs. V. L. Beck- er and Mrs. Milford Merner was appointed. A donation for Christmas gifts was given to the Children's Aid. The ladies are buying styrofoam to make ornaments for the Christmas tree. Rev. E. E. Steinman took as his topic "Reformation". Shar- on Rader played piano selections. Mission. Mrs. Howard Klumpp reported on new clothes donated by Braid's store to Children's Aid. Starting in January the meet- ing Will be the second Tuesday of each month. Mr. James took charge and Mrs. Mervyn Tie- man gave the report of the nom- inating committee which was ac- cepted. VIEW FILM ON JAPAN The Canadian Bible Society for Dashwood and Area held its an- nual meeting at the Community Centre Sunday evening, Nov. 12 with representatives from the Evangelical and Lutheran church- es present. Albert Miller was appointed president and Ervin Eckstein, secretary-treasurer. A film on the work in Japan "Under the Red Pagoda" was shown. Rev. Andrew Brndjar, Bible Society representative spoke of the work in Japan. Rev. Merrill James and Rev. E. E. Steinman both spoke briefly. PERSONALS Irvin Rader and Jack Turnbull were among a group of hunters in the Parry Sound area who bagged five deer and three bears. Elizabeth Guenther, daughter of Mrs. Jean Anne Guenther, had her tonsils removed at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Mrs. Wm. Haugh spent the weekend at Stratford with Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Rader and family. Rev. & Mrs. Andrew Brndjar and family were guests with Rev. & Mrs. Merrill James and boys Sunday evening. BABY BAPTIZED Heather Lynn, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rader was baptized in Z ion Lutheran Church by Rev. E. E. Steinman. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rader were sponsors. By MRS.
