The ladies of St. Patrick's
Church held an all day quilting
in the Parish Hall Wednesday.
Refreshments consisted of a pot
luck dinner, Rev. Sam Bell join-
ed the ladies at noon.
plans were made for a euchre
and dance to be held at the Lucan
Community Memorial Arena Dec.

The ladies were assisted by
Mrs. Raymond Greenlee, Exeter,
Mrs. R, Schroeder, Crediton and
Mrs. Earl Atkinson, Lucan.
A crib quilt and articles for
the 'bale to be sent to Rev.
Stanley Tomes at Trout Lake
were made ready.

new home in Lucan Thursday and
Friday last week.

Grand Bend, to an anniversary
dinner at the Colonial Hotel.

A good attendance was present
in the old school last Tuesday
evening, Nov. '7 for the CWL
meeting.
Guest speaker, Mrs. Howard
of London, spoke on social ac-
tion in the church, the community
and the country,
Mrs. Leo M o r Icin read the
poem, "Why I wear a poppy."
,Accordion selections were play-
ed by Tony and Diane Marten
and piano selections by Frances
Heenan,
Mrs. Van peursen won the door
prize and Mrs. Howard won the
special plate prize. Gifts were
presented to Mrs. Harold Ryan
for the most faithful attendance
and Mrs. Ellen Wheilhan for be-
ing the oldest member.
Guests were present from St.
peter's CWL,
The next meeting, Dec. 5, will
take the form of a Christmas
party, with an exchange of gifts.

In place of memorial flowers
in memory of the late Mr. Will
Haskett the family gave a dona-
tion to the organ fund.
The rebuilding of the organ is
making satisfactory progress.

packing a bale for the Rev. Stan-
ley Tomes, Tuesday evening and
it was announced the Guild would
meet Wednesday evening.

Thursday evening a bale was

Depot.
The Couples' Club members
are planning a social evening on
Friday, Dec. 8, with proceeds to
go to the building fund.

The pastor was in charge of
both Sunday services, the evening
was a Canadian Mission service.
It was announced the November
WA meeting would be held Monday

at the London area convention
held at the Carousel Motel, Lon-
don, last Tuesday. Mrs. Hardy
took part in the pageant Tuesday
evening which depicted 100 years
of history in 10 presentations,

Things are really humming at
the old centre these days with
everything going full blast.
Last Friday night in minor
hockey it was Exeter vs Ilderton,
in pee wee and bantam, Exeter
topped Ilderton 8-2 in pee wee and
6-0 in bantam, but in midget it
was a different story as Ilderton
out pumped and outplayed Exeter
for a 6-4 win,In novice Shamrock
Saturday afternoon it was Strath-
roy over Huron (B) 4-0, Dor-
chester over Huron (A) 5-1, Lam-
beth over Lucan 4-2 and the
final game was a stalemate as
Stoneybrook and Exeter played to
a 1-1 tie.
Public skating was very good
over the weekend again both Sat-
urday night andSunday afternoon,
Figure skating started Tuesday
past again for another year, cost
of this is 251 a lesson, and it
runs from 6:30 tO 8:30 pm every
Tuesday night for 15 weeks. Any
one interested contact Mrs.
Gladys Reilly or myself.

in a double ring ceremony in
Calvary EUB Church, Listowel,
on Saturday, November 11 at
3 pm.
Pink and white mums and light-
ed candelabra decorated the
church for the wedding at which
Rev. G. A. Sim officiated. Mrs.
Frank Zurbrigg, Listowel, play-
ed the wedding music and ac-
companied the soloist, Mrs. Wil-
liam Scott, Ripley, who sang
The Lord's Prayer and 0 Per-
fect Love.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was gowned in
a controlled sheath in faille with
detachable cardinal's train. The
sleeves, neckline and train were
edged with hand-clipped Venise
lace. She carried a bouquet of
pink sweetheart roses and white
feathered carnations.
Mrs. Lyle Zurbrigg, St. Marys
was matron of honor wearing an
aquamarine cloque' controlled
sheath and carried a cluster of
pink and white mums. Mrs. Peter
Morgan, Scarborough, sister of
the groom as bridesmaid, and
Miss Joanne Bode, Seaforth,
niece of the bride, as junior
bridesmaid, were gowned simil-
arly to the matron of honor.
Lyle Zurbrigg, St. Marys, bro-
ther of the bride, was best man
and ushers were Peter Morgan
and Garry Spencer.
The reception was held in the
church rooms where the bride's
mother received guests in an im-
ported krimp knit fortrel two-
piece suit In marina blue with
pink mum corsage. The groom's
mother assisted, wearing a brown
sheath with corsage of pink
mums.
For travelling to Northern and
Lions seek
youth leader
President Ian Dallas presided
at the regular Lions Club meet-
ing last Monday evening in the
Anglican Church basement, when
Lion Don Smith won the door
prize. With no Scout nor Cub
Master so far this Fall, a dis-
cussion was held as to how to
secure qualified masters as soon
as possible.
A donation of $10 was voted
to the CNIB. An invitation from
the Parkhill Lions to attend their
stag party November 29 was
extended, and a number accept-
ed the invitation.
The date for the annual New
Year's dinner and dance at the
Community Centre was set for
Friday, December 29, with the
ladies from St. Patrick's Church,
Saintsbury, doing the catering.
Last Saturday, 30 boys regis-
tered for House League Hockey
and it is expected more will
enroll before the first game at
9 am Saturday, Nov. 11.
Tickets were given out to be
sold for a chance on the large
turkey to be given away at the
Lion's Club annual bingo at the
Legion Hall, Wednesday, Dec. 6.
Mrs. Gordon Atkinson's group
of the Anglican Ladies Guild
catered for the dinner.
Eastern Ontario the bride
changed to a splendour blue A-
line dress, dark blue acces-
sories, camel fur-trimmed coat
and pink carnation corsage.
The couple will reside in
Lucan.
Office clerk
dies at GB
Leroy A. Bariteau, 73, died
suddenly at his late residence,
Grand Bend, Friday, November
10. He had been a resident of
Grand Bend for the past ten years
having retired as office clerk with
the Chrysler Corporation, De-
troit.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Eva Belt, sisters Mrs.
Peter (Velma) Farney, Los Ange-
les; Mrs. Douglas (Elizabeth)
Overacker, Antwerp, New York;
Mrs. Earl (Bernice) Tucker,
Theresa, New York; brothers,
Guy L. Bariteau, Portland, Oreg-
on and Ernest D. Bariteau, Los
Angeles. A daughter (Doris)pre-
deceased him.
A service was held Saturday
evening at 8 pm at the T. Harry
Hoffman Funeral Home, Dash-
wood, with Rev. G. E. Morrow
officiating. Then at the Verheyden
Funeral Home, Detroit, where
funeral service was held Tues-
day, Nov. 14 with interment in
Woodlawn Cemetery.
