Each member brought a guest to the meeting to hear Mrs. Ronald White of St. Marys who spoke and showed slides on the work of the March of Dimes. The Kinsmen and Kinette visit to the Ontario Hospital at God- erich will be November 22. The shut-in visit date has been chang- ed to December 3. The next regular meeting will be December 6. The raffle brought by Mrs. Harold Knight was won by Mrs. Robert Reaburn. Rev. H. A, Seegmiller offered prayer and a poem "In Flanders Fields" was recited by Comrade Harry W. Horton. Wreaths were placed. Pro- vincial by Mrs. Mary Taylor (who lost two sons in World War Two); Legion, President E. R. Davis; Auxiliary, President Mrs. Harold Campbell; Village, Reeve Minnie Noakes; Township of Tucker smith, Reeve Elgan Thompson; Town- ship of Hay, Reeve John Corbett; Kinsmen and Kinettes, Past President Murray Baker and president Mrs. Robert Caldwell; respectively; Guides, Melonie Veal; General Coach, Barrie Jackson. Last Post and Reveille was sounded. Following the service a par- ade comprised of Legion, Aux- iliary, Guides and Brownies, led by Exeter Pipe Band attended service at St. Pauls Anglican Church and were addressed by the Rev. H. A. Seegmiller, rector. In his address he said "Men are trying to make a better world today and they have not suc- ceeded yet; we have to start with ourselves". Jarrott were held from Bonthron Funeral Home Tuesday, November 7, conducted by Rev. Harold F. Currie who paid fitting tribute to the life of the deceased. Burial was in Baird's cemetery. Mrs. Wilson Kraft of Kitchener spent last week with Mrs. C lendon Christie and Catharine. Mr. and Mrs. Terry North and Teresa ofSt. Thomas, visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Watson, Seaforth, were Sunday guests with Mrs. C. Christie and Catharine. Mrs. John C. Ararrott is spend- ing the winter months with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Smith of Guelph. Mrs. V. M. Pyette, Mrs. James McAllister, Mrs. Elizabeth Riley, Mrs, R. M. Peck and Mrs. Fred Beer joined about 45 other mem- bers of District Institutes on a chartered bus trip to the London Area Convention Tuesday, Nov. 7 held at Carousel Motor Hotel, London. Also attending were Mrs. Carl Payne and Mrs. R. A. Orr who took part in the Centennial pageant. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Underwood of Gorrie were honored at a reception and dance held for them at Gorrie and presented with an electric floor polisher and a purse of money. Mrs. Under- wood is the former Miss Jean Henderson of Hensall. Flowers were placed in the United Church Sanctuary Sunday by their families in loving mem- ory of Mr. John Jarrott who pass- ed away November 5 and Mrs. Earle Sproat who passed away November '7. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lindsay and family of Bridgeport, were weekend visitors with Mrs. John Henderson and family, Mrs. Douglas Wein returned to her home in Port Hawksbury, Nova Scotia after spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker and Patsy. Mr. & Mrs. Wesley Green of Mitchell were recent visitors with the former's brother-in- Mrs. Don Stephens of Wood- stock was guest speaker at the Public Relations meeting of Hen- sall WI Wednesday evening, No- vember 8 speaking on Public Relations. She showed pictures taken enroute to the Pacific Coast and many while out there. She was introduced by Mrs. Eliz- abeth Riley. Roll call was answered by "A Needy Public Improvement". U all suggestions given are work- ed out, Hensall will be a very beautiful place to live in. The report of the London Area Convention held in the Carousel Motor Hotel November 7 and 8 was given by the delegate Mrs. R. M. Peck. A sing-song was directed by Mrs. James Mc- Allister accompanied by Miss Greta Lammie. Mrs. Beverly Beaton made the presentation and address of a WI cup and saucer to Miss Mattie Ellis in recognition of her untiring ef- forts in compiling the Centennial History of Hensall. Mrs. Carl Payne reported on the sale of these brochures and they may still be procured. A St. John Ambulance training course is coming up in the near future, and an invitation was announced for members to at- tend the 4-H Achievement Day at Exeter, Saturday, December 9. Mrs. Harry Caldwell con- tributed a humorous reading "Our English Language." Mrs. Carl Payne gave courtesy re• marks. President Mrs. V. M. Pyette chaired the meeting and Mrs. Pearl Koehler the pro- gram. Program conveners were Mrs. Elizabeth Riley and Mrs. Koehler. Hostesses were Mrs. R. A. Orr and Mrs. Gladys Cole- man. Mrs. Douglas Gill gave a few remarks on the "Book the Great Change" and drew the ladies attention to the article in the United Church Observer writ- ten by Dr. Ernest Long. Mrs. D. Gill presided for the business. The roll call was "Give Your Opinion Or Criticism of the 1967 Meetings". Some sugges- tions were given for the 1968 program. Lunch was served by Mrs. Elgin Adams and Mrs. Hugh Mor- enz. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Baird spent a few days last week with their daughter, Mrs. Carl Vanner and Mr. Vanner at Collingwood. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Mason of Naicam, Sask., are visiting relatives and friends in the com- munity. The Grand Bend Branch of Lambton county Library will be open to the public on Tuesdays 3 - 5 pm and '7- 9 pm and Friday 7- 9 pm every week. Please note Tuesday afternoon hours. By MRS. WELLWOOD GILL GRAND BEND The WA of St. Johns by-the- Lake Anglican Church, Grand Bend, held its monthly meeting recently in the Parish Hall. Mrs. Lloyd Baker, the president, was in the chair. Members are selling spoons with Centennial, Expo and pro- vincial crests as a money raising project. Also the euchre parties will be resumed. Rev. and Mrs. Insley invited the ladies to hold the December meeting at the rectory in Thed- ford. Rev. Insley presided over a short meeting at the close of the evening in which plans were made to augment the Chancel Guild membership. TALKS ON JAPAN The UCW evening unit held its meeting last Tuesday evening with Mrs. Wm Sturdevant con- ducting the opening worship. Mrs. Wm Blewett who has just returned from a trip to Japan was in charge of program. She spoke on her trip which was most interesting. Mrs. W. Gill presided for busi- ness. The ladies were reminded of the Christmas tea and bake sale on November 25 at 2:30pm., also all conveners to have re- ports in triplicate at the General meeting on November 21. Their son Bill Regier has bought their farm and is moving there. Mr. & Mrs. Tim O'Leary have bought a home in Zurich and moved their furniture two weeks ago.
