hear dime work
The regular meeting of the
Kinette Club of Hensall was held
at the home of Mrs. Jack Drys-
dale Wednesday, November 8.
Each member brought a guest
to the meeting to hear Mrs.
Ronald White of St. Marys who
spoke and showed slides on the
work of the March of Dimes.
The Kinsmen and Kinette visit
to the Ontario Hospital at God-
erich will be November 22. The
shut-in visit date has been chang-
ed to December 3.
The next regular meeting will
be December 6.
The raffle brought by Mrs.
Harold Knight was won by Mrs.
Robert Reaburn.

Canadian Legion 468 observed
Remembrance Day Sunday, No-
vember 12, with a service at the
cenotaph. Rev. H. A, Seegmiller
offered prayer and a poem "In
Flanders Fields" was recited by
Comrade Harry W. Horton.
Wreaths were placed. Pro-
vincial by Mrs. Mary Taylor
(who lost two sons in World War
Two); Legion, President E. R.
Davis; Auxiliary, President Mrs.
Harold Campbell; Village, Reeve
Minnie Noakes;
Township of Tucker smith,
Reeve Elgan Thompson; Town-
ship of Hay, Reeve John Corbett;
Kinsmen and Kinettes, Past

Following the service a par-

service at St. Pauls Anglican

Rev. H. A. Seegmiller, rector.
In his address he said "Men are
trying to make a better world
today and they have not suc-
ceeded yet; we have to start with

Public funeral services for the
late John C. Jarrott were held
from Bonthron Funeral Home
Tuesday, November 7, conducted
by Rev. Harold F. Currie who
paid fitting tribute to the life of
the deceased. Burial was in
Baird's cemetery.
Bearers were Earl Love, Alex
McBeath, Stuart McBride, Don
Brunzlow, Bill and Douglas Nor-
ris. Flower bearers were Percy
Campbell, Kenneth Woods and
Maurice Haist.

chartered bus trip to the London
Area Convention Tuesday, Nov.
7 held at Carousel Motor Hotel,
London. Also attending were Mrs.

who took part in the Centennial
pageant.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Underwood
of Gorrie were honored at a
reception and dance held for
them at Gorrie and presented
with an electric floor polisher and
a purse of money. Mrs. Under-
wood is the former Miss Jean
Henderson of Hensall.

ory of Mr. John Jarrott who pass-
ed away November 5 and Mrs.

sall WI Wednesday evening, No-
vember 8 speaking on Public
Relations. She showed pictures
taken enroute to the Pacific Coast
and many while out there. She
was introduced by Mrs. Eliz-
abeth Riley.

"A Needy Public Improvement".
U all suggestions given are work-
ed out, Hensall will be a very
beautiful place to live in.
The report of the London Area
Convention held in the Carousel
Motor Hotel November 7 and 8
was given by the delegate Mrs.
R. M. Peck. A sing-song was
directed by Mrs. James Mc-
Allister accompanied by Miss
Greta Lammie. Mrs. Beverly
Beaton made the presentation
and address of a WI cup and
saucer to Miss Mattie Ellis in
recognition of her untiring ef-
forts in compiling the Centennial
History of Hensall.
Mrs. Carl Payne reported on
the sale of these brochures and
they may still be procured.
A St. John Ambulance training
course is coming up in the near
future, and an invitation was
announced for members to at-
tend the 4-H Achievement Day
at Exeter, Saturday, December
9.
Mrs. Harry Caldwell con-
tributed a humorous reading
"Our English Language." Mrs.
Carl Payne gave courtesy re•
marks. President Mrs. V. M.
Pyette chaired the meeting and
Mrs. Pearl Koehler the pro-

Thursday with Mrs. Elgin Adams
conducting the worship period as-

remarks on the "Book the Great
Change" and drew the ladies
attention to the article in the
United Church Observer writ-
ten by Dr. Ernest Long.
Mrs. D. Gill presided for the
business. The roll call was "Give
Your Opinion Or Criticism of the
1967 Meetings". Some sugges-
tions were given for the 1968
program.
Lunch was served by Mrs.

The WA of St. Johns by-the-
Lake Anglican Church, Grand
Bend, held its monthly meeting
recently in the Parish Hall. Mrs.
Lloyd Baker, the president, was
in the chair.
Members are selling spoons
with Centennial, Expo and pro-
vincial crests as a money raising
project. Also the euchre parties
will be resumed.
Rev. and Mrs. Insley invited
the ladies to hold the December
meeting at the rectory in Thed-
ford.
Rev. Insley presided over a
short meeting at the close of the
evening in which plans were made
to augment the Chancel Guild
membership.
TALKS ON JAPAN
The UCW evening unit held its
meeting last Tuesday evening
with Mrs. Wm Sturdevant con-
ducting the opening worship.
Mrs. Wm Blewett who has just
returned from a trip to Japan
was in charge of program. She
spoke on her trip which was
most interesting.
Mrs. W. Gill presided for busi-
ness. The ladies were reminded
of the Christmas tea and bake
sale on November 25 at 2:30pm.,
also all conveners to have re-
ports in triplicate at the General
meeting on November 21.

of God ladies at their mission-
ary meeting Friday evening. Mrs.
E. J. Wattam presided. Several
musical numbers were enjoyed

recent visit to Germany and
